This gold pin is a gift from Comrade Qu Qiubai, the main leader of the early Communist Party of China and an important founder of Chinese revolutionary literature, to his wife, Yang Zhihua, a famous pioneer of China's women's movement.

In 1923, Qu Qiubai came to Shanghai, the birthplace of the party, and served as provost and head of the sociology department of Shanghai University. The following year, Yang Zhihua was also admitted to this new type of school, which is known for cultivating progressive youth. In the side-by-side battle of running night schools and spreading revolutionary ideas, the two young hearts knew each other and got closer and closer. Although Yang Zhihua had a marriage and had a daughter, Qu Qiubai was also devastated by the death of his ex-wife, and their mutual appreciation and common belief brought the two people together.

In November 1924, on the eve of the Fourth National Congress of the Communist Party of China, Qu Qiubai and Yang Zhihua were officially married in Shanghai, and from November 27 to 29, the Republic of China Daily in Shanghai published three consecutive notices: Yang Zhihua and Shen Jianlong's divorce, Yang Zhihua's marriage to Qu Qiubai, and Shen Jianlong's friendship with Qu Qiubai. The relationship between the three officially "came into effect" on November 18. In order to commemorate their union, Qu Qiubai personally engraved the seven words "Partner Who Gave Me Life" on a gold pin and gave it to Yang Zhihua.

The revolutionary struggle is long and arduous, and the life of the revolutionaries is busy and turbulent. But Qu Qiubai and Yang Zhihua's newlywed small family is full of sweetness and warmth. The two of them are comrades-in-arms who share weal and woe, a husband and wife who have experienced fierce battles and walked through ordinary lives together. They vividly interpreted the profound meaning of "partner of life" on the pin with more than ten years of friendship and unswerving chastity.
