Hisense breaks through the core technology: released China's first fully self-developed 8K AI picture quality chip

Chinese color TV companies continue to make breakthroughs in the core technology field to build product competitiveness.

On January 11, Hisense released China's first fully self-developed 8K AI picture quality chip in Beijing, which is also the fifth generation of Hisense picture quality chip, and also represents the highest processing power of a single picture quality chip in China.

According to reports, at present, Hisense 8K AI picture quality chip has been used in the whole machine, and this year will fully cover multiple series of display products including Hisense and Toshiba two major brands. This year, Hisense will also launch an 8K broadcast-grade professional monitor and a Micro LED TV.

China is a big color TV manufacturing country, but the competitiveness of local color TV companies is still a big gap compared with the giants of Japan and South Korea, the main gap is also in the field of high-end components, and in recent years, color TV companies represented by Hisense have also laid out in the core technology field to build the underlying competitiveness.

According to reports, the chip for the first time to achieve a leap-forward development from 4K to 8K, more breakthrough AI perception image quality algorithm and other core technologies, through the equipped with artificial intelligence with "deep neural network" technology, to achieve high-precision image processing, support 33 million + megapixel accurate reconstruction, can show the rich hidden details in the picture; 26880 partition control, through contrast improvement, the details and colors of the picture are closer to the truth.

"The global display industry has shifted from the competition of 'screen' and sales volume to the competition of 'core' and the competition of audio and picture quality. 2022 will be the inflection point of global TELEVISION competition: out of the decades of 'cost-effective' disputes, completely into the battle of picture quality, quality. Yu Zhitao, vice president of Hisense Group Holding Company, said in a keynote speech that for decades, Chinese, Japanese and Korean companies have launched fierce competition around display technology and industrial chain, and Hisense has always stood at the forefront of this competition, "Chips are the core underlying technology of Hisense's big display strategy." ”

Yu Zhitao said that in recent years, the continuous iterative introduction of picture quality chips not only allows Hisense to have the ability to define products, but also continues to extend to commercial display chips, flat panel display chips, Micro LED display chips, vehicle display chips and other plates on this basis, forming the core underlying technology of Hisense's big display product matrix.

It is understood that in June 2005, Hisense successfully developed China's first digital video processing chip with independent intellectual property rights and industrialization, which was named "Xinxin". Today, Hisense continues to invest in chip research and development, and constantly introduces new products, from high-definition to full HD, and then to ultra-high-definition display, forming a complete series of chip products. Hisense Group has always regarded chip research and development as the top priority to support the company's future industrial development.

In November 2015, Hisense released the Hi-View Pro ultra-high definition image quality engine chip generation, becoming the only TV company in China with its own high-end picture quality chip. The chip ends the history of domestic TVs without their own picture quality chips.

In 2017 and 2018, Hisense launched the second and third generations of ultra-high-definition image quality engine chips. In 2020, the fourth-generation chip of the Hi-View Pro ultra-high-definition image quality engine developed by Hisense successfully lit up the stacked screen.

It is worth mentioning that the first four generations of Hisense picture quality chips have achieved mass production, and have been applied to Hisense TV, professional displays, and medical display industries in batches, which has effectively enhanced the picture quality effect and enhanced the global competitiveness of products. In addition to picture quality chips, in 2020, the screen-side control chips developed by Hisense shipped more than 50 million pieces a year, with a global share of more than 50%, ranking first in the world.

Yu Zhitao said in an interview with the media: "Chips have a large domestic alternative space, especially in the context of intelligent home appliances, the demand for chips is increasing, so the company's research and development investment in the chip industry is not limited to the field of television and display, and the future has a broader space in the home appliance smart chip." ”

According to reports, hisense chip team currently has R & D centers in Qingdao, Shanghai, Xi'an and Japan, with algorithm design, digital and analog IP design, SoC integration, back-end design, packaging and testing design and system software and hardware development and other full-process design and development capabilities.
