In the decisive battle in western Sichuan, Chiang Kai-shek issued an order before flying away from Chengdu, Liu Wenhui: Electrified uprising

At midnight on December 13, 1949, after signing the last "contingency plan", Chiang Kai-shek, escorted by Hu Zongnan, boarded a special plane hidden at Xinjin Airport and flew to Taiwan. He has never returned to the mainland since.

In fact, when he was sitting in Chengdu and preparing for the decisive battle in western Sichuan, Chiang Kai-shek already had only Hu Zongnan's trump card left in his hands, even if he added various miscellaneous armies, it was only 300,000 people and horses.

But before that, he still had a trump card in his hand - "Xikang King" Liu Wenhui.

As one of the protagonists in the Sichuan Struggle for Hegemony, Liu Wenhui ruled Xikang Province for ten years and was known as the "King of Xikang". When he was in charge of Xikang Province, this person attached great importance to education, and his ruling philosophy was soaked with the essence of traditional Chinese culture and reflected a broad vision for the future, which can be said to be a microcosm of the "golden decade" in the development process of the Republic of China.

Liu Wenhui was in Xikang Province, in charge of the Twenty-fourth Army of the National Revolutionary Army, and was familiar with the terrain of western Sichuan, and if he was used by Chiang Kai-shek, he must have been a fierce general. But before Chiang Kai-shek flew away from Chengdu, he issued an order and threw away this "good card."

In fact, during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, Liu Wenhui had already developed doubts about the rule of the Nationalist government in Nanjing. While Chiang Kai-shek ordered troops to be sent to various localities to resist Japan, he also arranged for his own cronies to be sent to the localities. Clear-eyed people can see that old Chiang Kai-shek is using the War of Resistance as an excuse to eliminate dissidents and consolidate his ruling position.

In 1938, Liu Xiang, who had left Sichuan to resist the Japanese, was killed, and the old Chiang immediately abolished the headquarters of the commander of the Seventh Theater and sent his own close associate Zhang Qun as the chairman of Sichuan Province. In the face of Jiang's aggressive attitude, Liu Wenhui realized that if he gave up Sichuan, then in the near future, his fate would be the same as Liu Xiang's.

Therefore, Liu Wenhui united with local forces in Sichuan to resist Zhang Qun's entry into Sichuan. From this time on, underground members of our party hooked up with Liu Wenhui. At this time, Liu Wenhui had lost confidence in the National Government in Nanjing and intended to draw closer to our Party, but the straw that really crushed the camel was the order issued by Chiang Kai-shek.

On November 30, 1949, Chiang Kai-shek flew to Chengdu and met with Zhang Qun, Liu Wenhui, Deng Xihou and others. On the surface, it is to cheer up several people, but in fact, to observe their movements. At this time, Liu Wenhui already had the idea of uprising. In the face of Chiang Kai-shek's visit, he calmly coped with it and did not show any flaws.

But Jiang could not rest assured of Liu Wenhui, and immediately issued a secret order to Hu Zongnan:

"Take it off" Liu Wenhui.

Jiang first ordered Liu Wenhui, Deng Xihou, and Hu Zongnan to work together in western Sichuan, and sent people to prepare to send his family members to Taiwan. Liu Wenhui understood that lao Jiang was going to set himself up and put him under house arrest in Taiwan.

In the face of Chiang Kai-shek's schemes, Liu Wenhui only used one trick - dragging. While obeying Chiang Kai-shek's orders, he did not carry them out, and Chiang Kai-shek had no choice but to arrest Liu Wenhui.

On December 7, 1949, Chiang Kai-shek personally invited Liu Wenhui and Deng Xihou to the military academy to discuss the decisive battle in western Sichuan, but secretly an ambush had already been deployed, so he waited for the two to appear and arrest them in one fell swoop.

Liu Wenhui is not stupid, naturally knows that this is a "Hongmen banquet", and has no intention of going. After consulting with Deng Xihou, he decided to leave Chengdu and go to Peng County, where he immediately electrified the uprising.

Chiang Kai-shek and Hu Zongnan waited for half a day, and did not see the two coming, and when they asked, they found that Liu Wenhui had already left Chengdu. Chiang Kai-shek was furious, and he did not expect that he had made Liu Wenhui the King of Xikang for more than ten years, and finally betrayed him.

On December 11, 1949, Liu Wenhui, Deng Xihou and Pan Wenhua jointly revolted in Peng County. Chiang Kai-shek, who sits in Chengdu, has become a lonely man and is surrounded by songs. At this time, he truly realized that the plan for the decisive battle in Chuanxi had completely collapsed and the situation could not be reversed. Finally, under the persuasion of Hu Zongnan, Yan Xishan, and others, he had to embark on a special plane to Taiwan.

As for Liu Wenhui, after the uprising, he received preferential treatment from our party, and in 1959 he became the minister of forestry, bowing to the development of forestry in New China.

Liu Wenhui has been in the military and politics all his life, majestic and heroic, experiencing the shadow of the sword and light, and did not return to plainness until his old age. In the impression of his heirs, one of the most common words of Liu Wenhui in his later years was: "

It's not fun to engage in politics.
