Wang Yixian said that except for less than 700,000 yuan in cash, the rest of the funds were borrowed in her name from banks, online business loans, Alipay, microloans, credit cards and other channels at the instigation of the above-mentioned man. Around August 2021, Wang Yixian registered as a member on the "Tantan" dating platform. She is divorced and the owner of a graphic design company with a house and a car. Such a resume is more noticeable on dating platforms. A week later, a man named Chen Kechang appeared.
Mr. Chen claims to have opened a factory in Guangdong, has a house, and now runs a logistics company in Chengdu. Wang Yixian felt that such conditions were good, and the man happened to be near her company. Not long after meeting on the Internet, Chen Kechang proposed to meet, she was also curious about what kind of person the other party was, and the two met.
"After going out to dinner a few times, he sat in my corporate office for an afternoon, and then he treated me well." Wang Yixian said that this person gave her the impression that she had a successful career and would be considerate. Wang Yixian once accompanied Chen Kechang to meet a friend who claimed to be the president of the bank, and lent 200,000 yuan in person. The next day, she got an IOU, which read: "Borrow my friend Chen Kechang..."
Ms. Wang said Mr. Chen later mobilized her to take out bank loans. She took out four loans from the bank, totaling more than 500,000 yuan — all of which were given to Chen Kechang to "take care of business."
Chen Kechang has been comforting her and reassuring her: when the mortgage loan for the house in Guangdong comes out of 2.7 million yuan, he will take it to her to repay the bank loan. Wang Yixian learned from Haiyan that Chen Kechang had a wife. Moreover, Chen Kechang first met Haiyan, and then was with her. In fact, for a long time, Chen Kechang was dating two women at the same time.
At this time, Wang Yixian completely woke up. "But I can't stop the car anymore." She said.
She could only pretend that nothing had happened, continued to associate with Chen Kechang, and quietly collected evidence. She discovered that Chen Kechang had to call his wife every day, and after not getting money from Wang Yixian, he began to look for the next target on the Internet and met a woman named Xu Shan (pseudonym).
After obtaining enough evidence, Wang Yixian reported the case to the Longquanyi Branch of the Chengdu Public Security Bureau. Chen Kechang was immediately taken away by the police for investigation. On February 9, 2023, the police issued a "Notice of Case Registration" to Wang Yixian. Wang Yixian learned that the public security department opened a case against Chen Kechang for investigation on suspicion of fraud.
Wang Yixian sent a pennant to the police handling the case, thanking the police for opening the case for investigation. However, the police told her that the money she had been defrauded of might be difficult to recover.
Ms. Wang said she learned from the police that every amount of money Chen Kechang swindled from her was transferred to an online gambling platform similar to bitcoin the same day. The web servers of such gambling platforms are usually located outside the country. When Chen Kechang was captured by the police, he had only a few hundred yuan in cash on his account.
Wang Yixian remembered that she had borrowed 200,000 yuan to Chen Kechang's friend, the president of a bank, so she looked for a bank's business location and found that there was no "friend" there.
Later, Wang Yixian went to Chen Kechang's hometown in Luzhou and found that his parents were not retired teachers or nurses, but both farmers. Villagers said Mr. Chen was a scammer who defrauded the village secretary of 70,000 yuan in 2014 in the name of "borrowing money."
Wang Yixian then realized that Chen Kechang's identity, as well as the identities of his parents and friends, were all fictional.
Because of the "dating" deception, Wang Yixian paid a heavy price mentally and financially. She now has to repay more than 50,000 yuan in interest every month. In order to avoid the impact on the company's operation, she took back the six credit cards that were maxed out and repaid the interest every month. Her company, which has been in business for more than a decade, has never defaulted on employees' wages, but now defaults every month. "Now it's really exhausted, and I can't afford to eat." Wang Yixian said that her expectation for this case now is that she hopes that the court will make an early judgment. The police handling the case told her that Chen Kechang defrauded her of more than one million yuan, and if she could not return a penny, the court imposed a heavier sentence.
