Why did the top martial artist Lü Bu fail? The issue of character is not the key, it is about being discriminated against by geography

We read all the lead to present a different history.

Speaking of Lü Bu, I think everyone will not feel strange. Lü Bu, known as the "Flying General", was an active warlord in the early Three Kingdoms. In the chaos of the late Han Dynasty, Lü Bu also had a brilliant time, guarding Chang'an with Situ Wang Yun; later he was also lonely, and was counterattacked by Dong Zhuo's generals, and could only withdraw from Chang'an City, thus wandering in Xuzhou and Yanzhou. In December of the third year of Jian'an (199 AD), this famous general, who had a major impact on the situation at the end of the Han Dynasty, was betrayed by his subordinates and eventually died at the hands of Cao Cao.

As for why Lü Bu's military clique failed, many people blamed this on Lü Bu's character problem. In the speech, he was commented that he was a "three-surnamed family slave", who was greedy for money and lustful, and it was also extremely degrading to him. In the historical records, the historian Chen Shou also gave a negative evaluation, saying that he was "cunning and repetitive". However, from a specific historical point of view, Lü Bu's failure was actually two other major reasons, one was that he was born on the border and was ostracized by the Zhongyuan Shi clan; the other was that he was too "naïve" and was always manipulated by people with hearts.

Let's start with the ancient regional discrimination. Taking Wei and Jin as an example, southerners looked down on northerners and called them "servant fathers" (similar to tubaozi and earth turtles), "Wu people took Zhongzhou people as servants"; northerners did not want to show weakness, "Wei and Jin surrendered, and northerners scolded Wu people as raccoons". Lü Bu is a native of Jiuyuan County, Hezhou, and the local people are fierce, and there are Qianghu tribes, and their behavior is naturally rough and barbaric. The door valve families in the Central Plains despised the foreign customs of the Cypriot people, and they could not tolerate lü Bu's "barbarians" over their heads. In contrast, such as Cao Cao, Yuan Shao, Liu Biao, Tao Qian, and other princes, which is not the family origin of "Fundamental Miao Hong"? Although Liu Bei was also born in the remote Youzhou, he had the status of an imperial prince. If it were not for the fact that Lü Bu was famous for his Xiao Yong in the late Han Dynasty, he would not have had the opportunity to make a difference in the Central Plains.

The Chronicle of the Three Kingdoms, Lü Bu's biography records, "Bu thought of killing Zhuo as a skill, and wanted to do it with virtue." The technique is repeated and rejected. Yuan Shu was a typical descendant of the family, and he not only hated Lü Bu's capriciousness, but also hated Lü Bu's origin even more. Perhaps some readers will think of Chen Gong, didn't he have great respect for Lü Bu, and did not hesitate to betray Cao Cao to welcome Lü Bu into Yanzhou? At that time, Chen Gong persuaded the famous scholar Zhang Mi to say: "Lü Bu is a strong soldier, good at fighting, if the power is welcome, co-shepherd Yanzhou, look at the situation in the world, and change the current affairs, this is also a long time." It is not difficult to find that the reason why Chen Gong chose Lü Bu was because the latter had courage and was easy to control.

Cao Cao's adviser Cheng Yu was more blunt, saying that Lü Bu was "rough and shallow, rigid and rude", but was just a "bear of the pifu". "Courage and strategy" is almost the unanimous view of the world on Lü Bu. In addition, Chen Deng, a famous strategist from the Hao clan in Xuzhou, also said that Lü Bu was "brave and unscrupulous, lighter than to save." Therefore, when Lü Bu was wandering in the Central Plains, only Zhang Yang, who was also a member of the Hezhou clan with him, was willing to help him. Later, lü Bu ruled Xuzhou, and many local warriors were dissatisfied, so they secretly united with Cao Cao and eliminated this "barbarian" in one fell swoop.

Let's look at the second reason - Lü Bu is easy to control. Judging from the world's unanimous evaluation of him, it is not difficult to find that Lü Bu is indeed not good at scheming. From the moment he entered Beijing, his fate was not controlled by himself. Lü Bu betrayed Ding Yuan, but in fact the latter was slow to react and could not continue to represent the Hezhou group. In the end, with the will of the main body of the Hezhou Warlord Clique, Lü Bu chose to kill Ding Yuan, became the spokesman for the warlords of Hezhou and fell to Dong Zhuo. In contrast, Dong Zhuo treated Lü Bu very favorably, not only promoting him to knight lieutenant, but also having a "father-son relationship" with him. However, in fact, Lü Bu was not happy under Dong Zhuo's command, and the Taiping Imperial Records quoted the "Classics" as saying: "Although Dong Zhuo loved Lü Bu, when he was drunk, he scolded and struck him with a sword, but did not stop. ”

The "Later Han Shu Lü Bu Biography" records: "Taste a small loss of Zhuo Yi, Zhuo pulled out his hand and threw it." Bu Fist Jie was spared, and gu xie was changed, and Zhuo Yi also understood. Bu Yu was a grudge against Zhuo, and Zhuo made Bu guard the middle cabinet, and privately communicated with Fu Concubine, and it was not easy to be at ease. Next, Lü Bu killed Dong Zhuo, also out of Situ Wang Yun's calculations. The latter was also a native of Xiangzhou, and he took advantage of his fellow countrymen to win Lü Bu over, and took the opportunity of the sharp contradiction between the Hezhou Army and the Liangzhou Army to induce Lü Bu to get rid of Dong Zhuo, thus becoming a sharp blade in his hand. However, Wang Yun also suffered a counterattack, and Dong Zhuobu counterattacked Li Dai and Guo Feng in Chang'an, and he also died as a result. From this time on, Lü Bu wandered all over the Central Plains, suffered countless exclusions and white eyes, and became a "lone ghost". Perhaps death is not a relief for Lü Bu, who has been discriminated against and toyed with.
