
On January 7, Southern + learned that in the face of the global semiconductor supply shortage, Mercedes-Benz passenger cars and light commercial vehicles delivered more than 2.4 million new vehicles worldwide, of which 758863 were delivered in the Chinese market.
Tang Shikai, a member of the board of directors of Daimler AG and Mercedes-Benz AG and responsible for the business in Greater China, said that the global automotive industry is facing challenges in 2021, but Mercedes-Benz has always given priority to the Chinese market business, tried its best to ensure supply, and continuously expanded its local layout such as research and development, production and procurement.
From the perspective of product performance in various market segments, Mercedes-Benz's S-Class sedans maintained a leading position in the segment; GLE, GLS and G-Class cars achieved double-digit growth; Mercedes-Maybach and Mercedes-AMG brands also achieved double-digit growth; and the new generation of product families represented by GLA, GLB and CLA models also achieved double-digit growth.
More critically, as the year of "Mercedes-EQ", Mercedes-Benz will fully transform to electrification in 2021, launching 3 new electrification products in one go, including new EQA SUVs, EQB SUVs and EQS, enriching luxury electric options in different market segments. Among them, the new EQS is the industry's first large-scale pure electric luxury car, with 800 km endurance, 0.20 wind resistance coefficient, MBUX super screen and other highlights.

Specifically, mercedes-EQ's first pure electric sedan based on the EVA platform is the new EQE; plug-in hybrid products from C-class cars, S-class cars and other models; Mercedes-Maybach S 680 4MATIC ingenious couture debut version; and the first Mercedes-AMG electric model - Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 4MATIC+, and so on.
In fact, in the face of increasing competition in the Chinese market and growing user demand in the field of electrification, Mercedes-Benz is also increasing its investment. In October 2021, the new Daimler China R&D Technology Center was officially opened with a total investment of 1.1 billion yuan, which will help Mercedes-Benz further focus on the needs of Chinese customers. At the same time, Mercedes-Benz and dealer partners continue to optimize the five "star" charging service, which now covers multiple application scenarios such as home charging, public charging, urban hotspots, roadside assistance, exclusive charging, etc., with more than 365,000 public charging piles nationwide, and brand exclusive charging services have been settled in 407 star stations in 106 cities.
Mercedes-Benz said that in 2022, it will continue to accelerate the landing of electric transformation in the Chinese market, and will continue to create a sustainable luxury car and service experience that customers yearn for with intelligent product technology, digital service solutions and people-oriented sustainable value concepts.
