As the world's largest automobile producer and consumer, China's new energy vehicle market has achieved a transformation from the introduction period to the growth period. In order to achieve the goal of "double carbon", the low carbonization of China's transportation field to promote the marketization of new energy vehicles has become an inevitable trend, the arrival of the era of new energy vehicles has become an indisputable fact, and intelligence has become the winner and loser of future competition among major car companies.
Looking back at 2021, the development speed of the new energy market exceeded expectations, of which the penetration rate of new energy vehicles by independent brands in November has reached 37.4%. Driven by many new models with precise positioning, such as Wuling Hongguang MINI EV, BYD Han, Tesla Model 3/Y and new car-making forces, the new energy market at both ends of the high and low ends has continued to strengthen, successfully shifting from policy-driven to market-driven.

Caambiz expects total sales of new energy vehicles to be 3.4 million units in 2021, an increase of 1.5 times year-on-year; sales in 2022 will exceed 5 million units, an increase of 47% year-on-year.

This is particularly evident at the Haikou Auto Show, where it can be seen that domestic brands already have a layout in almost all market segments. Whether it is from the low-end Wuling Hongguang MINI EV, Changan Ben E-Star, to the mid-range 100,000-200,000 yuan Nezha, zero run, Weima, etc., and then to the high-end about 300,000 yuan of Jihu, Ean, Extreme Krypton, and even the ceiling-level high-he HiPhi, independent brands have carried the banner on this new energy track.
With the rapid development of new energy, since last year, many joint venture brands have also begun to transform rapidly. In April last year, Ford Motor announced its China electrification strategy, and by 2025, 70% of Ford brand models sold in China will be available as electric vehicles, including Changan Ford's full range of models.
SAIC-GM also announced its strategic layout in the field of electrification and intelligent networking in April, officially launched the "new division standard" in September, and officially put into operation at the SAIC-GM Ultium Aoteneng Gigafactory in October.
In addition, Honda Motor also officially announced the electrification strategy of the Chinese market, and plans to release 10 new pure electric models for Guangqi Honda and Dongfeng Honda within 5 years. However, although the strategy is determined, the motivation is insufficient, and it is inevitable that the current situation will emerge. Toyota, Nissan, Mercedes-Benz, Audi and other brands have also seen a large number of new energy models this year.
