CES2022: BMW iX rear seat 32 inch large screen 8K resolution

Don't mind the car's care for the driver – BMW wants to give the passengers in the back seat a luxurious treat. It's previewing a 31-inch, 8K "theater screen" passenger option based on the car's Fire TV. Launch it and a 32:9 screen will stretch out from the ceiling, equipped with 5G data and Bowers & Wilkins surround sound. You can even see the sun visor off and listen to the opening theme of the soundtrack composer Hans Zimmer.

Content from Amazon's platform will be played "only" in 4K, and few videos can take full advantage of the 32:9 ultra-wide aspect ratio. However, you can tilt the screen for the ideal view, and the two rear passengers can control the volume and other parts of the entertainment system.

BMW didn't say which vehicles will include theater screens in addition to the "futuristic" models, but you could make it part of the "My Mode" feature that debuted on the iX. Price and availability are also not provided, although you can speculate that this will become expensive. Cost isn't necessarily an issue for the target audience – it could be for driver customers, like parents who want to pamper their children on road trips.
