It has been working for 14 days. From December 23, 2021 to January 5, 2022, Liu Qiuyue has been conducting nucleic acid sampling work from more than 8 a.m. to more than 1 p.m. every day, and sometimes busy until more than 10 o'clock at night, and nearly 2,000 nucleic acid tests are tested every day.

Liu Qiuyue, a former nurse at the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi'an Jiaotong University, worked diligently for more than 40 years and continued to help the hospital after retirement until 2021. Recently, the outbreak of the epidemic in Xi'an, as a medical worker, Liu Qiuyue did not hesitate to sign up for the recruitment of volunteers in the hospital.

This special volunteer team is known as the "Sunset Red" nucleic acid sampling team, and the 24 members are retired medical workers of the hospital, who usually collect nucleic acids in the family area of the first affiliated hospital and the international port area. It is reported that at present, they have collected about 30,000-40,000 nucleic acid samples in the family area and the port area.

"My lover, son, and daughter-in-law are all medical workers, and my daughter-in-law has supported Wuhan before." Liu Qiuyue told the Health Times reporter that her family is very supportive of her volunteer work, "I think it is worth it to be able to contribute to this city again." Liu Qiuyue said.

The seventy-year-old professor became a silver-haired volunteer

At the call of the hospital, a medical team composed of 3 retired experts and 1 retired nurse from the First Affiliated Hospital went to the Xingqing Campus Hospital of Xi'an Jiaotong University to provide medical protection tasks for teachers and students from December 28, 2021.

"Students here will inevitably have minor injuries and illnesses, and when we are here, they will be more at ease." Chen Xiaoyan, an expert in the medical team, told the Health Times reporter that after their arrival, they will help students solve some respiratory infections, foot trauma, gastroenteritis and other problems in time, screen and transport fever students, and also carry out some science popularization education to strengthen students' awareness of epidemic prevention.

Chen Xiaoyan is 70 years old this year, as a respiratory medicine expert professor who has worked for 46 years, and a 50-year-old party member, she is still in the hospital expert clinic ten years after her retirement. After the outbreak of the epidemic in Xi'an, she actively participated in volunteer work.

Chen Xiaoyan said that there are not many fifty or sixty people in the school every day, but it is of great significance. Previously, she also recorded a short video of "how college students should pay attention to preventing the epidemic during the closed management period" for students to popularize science. "It's not a hassle at all, it's our unshirkable responsibility." Chen Xiaoyan said.
