Young and ambitious
In 1904, Sun Yuanliang was born into an ordinary family in Huayang County, Chengdu, Sichuan. His father, Sun Yanrong, served as a local governor in the late Qing Dynasty. Sun Yanrong had a son at the age of 67, so he had high hopes for him and intended to cultivate him hard, hoping that he would become a useful person to the country in the future.
When he was young, Sun Yuanliang was sent to a private school early and was admitted to Nanjing Higher Normal College at the age of 18. Only a year later, Sun Yuanliang was admitted to the National University of Political Science and Law, and at the age of 20, he was qualified to go to Peking University for preparatory studies because of his excellent grades.
In 1924, Dr. Sun Yat-sen single-handedly established the famous Whampoa Military Academy and began to recruit outstanding patriotic youth. At that time, Sun Yuanliang was still a young man who was devoted to reading and had great ambitions. After hearing this news, he immediately enrolled in the Whampoa Military Academy.
The Whampoa Military Academy is known for its strict recruitment and requires referrals from relevant personnel to have the opportunity to enroll. Under the recommendation of Li Dazhao, Sun Yuanliang successfully passed the initial examination and re-examination, officially entered the Whampoa Military Academy, and became the first batch of cadets.
Later, the Whampoa Military Academy became the passage through which Mr. Jiang started. He controlled the Government of the Republic of China through the outstanding students inside, including Hu Zongnan, Song Xilian, Sun Yuanliang and others. Sun Yuanliang, who is dignified and studious, is deeply valued by Mr. Jiang. Since then, Sun Yuanliang began a long military career in his twenty-year-old good years.
In terms of reading, Sun Yuanliang was indeed talented, but fighting a war was not a paper battle, and Sun Yuanliang at that time would not have thought that the "general" was so difficult.
Primordial nature
Sun Yuanliang, who had just entered the military field, relied on the importance of Mr. Jiang to him, coupled with the recognition and admiration he received among his peers, and rose to a higher level, and soon became the commander of the first regiment of the First Division of the National Revolutionary Army.
Sun Yuanliang's vigor was not enough, and he was punched hard when the Northern Expedition army was attacking Sun Chuanfang--Sun Yuanliang, as the commander of the regiment, was counterattacked by Sun Chuanfang's army at night due to lack of vigilance in a battle, and ended up in a complete defeat.
At this time, Sun Yuanliang actually left the troops and fled alone, not knowing where to go. The legion without a leader became a mess, and was gradually defeated and retreated, losing many important military territories.
Even if Sun Yuanliang had won Mr. Jiang's favor before, he could not resist Mr. Jiang's anger this time. It just so happened that at this time, Mr. Jiang promulgated the new "Revolutionary Army Company Seating Law" because of the "Zhongshan Ship Incident", and Sun Yuanliang's move was undoubtedly to add fuel to the fire. He personally ran to the front line, scolded Sun Yuanliang in front of the entire division, and threatened to shoot him to show military discipline.
When Sun Yuanliang learned of this, he ran away from the ground. Later, under the persuasion of others, Mr. Jiang remembered that Sun Yuanliang's previous performance was still loyal, and remembered that he was just starting to go to the battlefield, so he showed extrajudicial favors to him, and even allowed him to study in Japan.

Of course, the "Flying General" did not lose half a point in the escape. In the defense of Nanjing, the 88th Army was unable to resist the fierce attack, the position was almost broken by the Japanese army, and just when the remaining troops and brigades stubbornly resisted, Sun Yuanliang actually retreated all the way to Xiaguan with his henchmen and tried to cross the river and flee. Under the "muzzle persuasion" of his former friend, Song Xilian, the commander of the 36th Division, he had to return to zhonghua gate with his troops to continue the battle.
Unexpectedly, after a while, Sun Yuanliang actually abandoned the troops again and chose to escape alone. At noon that day, after a meeting in the army, Sun Yuanliang secretly took off his military uniform, changed into civilian clothes, and ran to a brothel, not only stuffing gold bars for the old bustard, but also recognizing the other party as a dry mother, and hiding in the green building for more than half a month before coming out.
Song Xilian and Mr. Jiang, who knew about this, were furious, and just when everyone thought that Sun Yuanliang was doomed this time, he wrote himself an article praising his insistence on resisting the war and published it in the newspaper, so he turned the danger into ruin and left one behind.
Sun Yuanliang relied on his "go up" strategy, and finally hid in Taiwan after the war subsided, and began his old age. At the beginning, Yuhuatai was full of blood, and everyone was the Yellow River to resist Japan, and the general did not pass home in February, but Sun Yuanliang hid in the Qinglou, just to save his life. The ironic name of "Flying General", he deserved it.
Bland old age
Perhaps knowing that his military level was not enough, Sun Yuanliang changed careers and began to do business after fleeing to Taiwan. After retiring, he began writing his memoir, A Moment in a Billion Light Years. His last public appearance was when the Japanese army denied the crimes in Nanjing, and he stood up to issue a letter of protest, righteously opposing the sophistry of the anti-Japanese side.
In his later years, Sun Yuanliang rarely mentioned his past, even in front of his children, rarely mentioned the events of that year. His fifth son, Qin Han, became a well-known popular movie star, won many film and television awards internationally, and was in love with Lin Qingxia for 21 years.
In 2007, Sun Yuanliang, who had experienced a century of twists and turns, finally passed away after living to the age of 103. According to his will, his family moved his ashes back to Nanjing, a land that has many memories for him.
Sun Yuanliang's life is a complex of multiple human natures gathered together.
