The famous "escaped" general, who lived until the age of 103, his son is a household star

Before liberation, Sun Yuanliang was a famous "escaped" general in the Nationalist army. He was originally a high-caliber student of the huangpu first term, with a high degree of education, handsome people, and a close confidant of Chiang Kai-shek. He joined the Whampoa Military Academy at the age of nineteen and soon after graduation became the commander of the 1st Regiment of the 1st Division of the Northern Expeditionary Army. In 1926, when Chiang Kai-shek was fighting Sun Chuanfang, Sun Yuanliang was ordered to cover but did not fire a single shot and retreated westward. In 1937, he served as the commander of the 88th Division, defending Zhabei, abandoning 1 battalion of the 524th Regiment and withdrawing on his own. Afterwards, the regiment became famous in the "Four-Line Warehouse Defense War", and Sun Yuanliang was promoted to the commander of the 72nd Army.

At the end of the same year, when Nanjing was defended, Sun Yuanliang's men were completely annihilated, and he hid alone in the Qinglou and became an eyewitness to the massacre. During the Battle of Huaihai, Sun Yuanliang also had many "glorious" escape deeds. Sun Yuanliang repeatedly violated military rules in the first half of his life, but he rose all the way and frantically amassed wealth. It was not until 1990 that he stood up to testify for the truth of the "Nanjing Massacre" and participated in the recording of "An Inch of Rivers, Mountains and An Inch of Blood", which attracted everyone's attention. In addition, Sun Yuanliang gave birth to a son named Sun Xiangzhong, who is a well-known Taiwanese actor Qin Han.

Sun Yuanliang was born in 1904 in Shaoxing, Zhejiang Province, his father was a Zhixian in the late Qing Dynasty, and his family fell in the middle of the road after the Xinhai Revolution. When Sun Yuanliang was 13 years old, his father died, and he grew up under the care of his uncle Sun Zhen. An early member of the Chinese League, Sun Zhen entered the Baoding Army Officer School in 1912, joined the revolution in 1926, and finally became a lieutenant general in the Kuomintang Army and commander-in-chief of the Kuomintang 22nd Army. Sun Yuanliang, under Sun Zhen's arrangement, entered the first training class of Huangpu and became a protégé of Chiang Kai-shek.

Sun Yuanliang was originally a clumsy disciple, and his greed for money and lust were well known in the military. In 1926, Chiang Kai-shek's concubine was sun chuanfang of the Northern Expedition, and because he was greedy and afraid of death, he was looking forward to the wind and retreating, and according to military law, he should be shot, and Chiang Kai-shek announced twice at the conference that he would be shot in accordance with the military law. However, he disappeared without a trace. It was two years before he made a comeback. It turned out that because of Sun Zhen's relationship and the persuasion of many elders of the Kuomintang, Chiang Kai-shek could not kill this concubine, but instead paid for him to study at the Japanese Army Non-Commissioned Officer School.

After Sun Yuanliang arrived in Japan, he dropped out of school two years later because he could not bear the suffering of the Japanese military academy. After his return, Chiang Kai-shek arranged for him to serve as deputy commander of the 88th Division. In 1935, the former commander of the 88th Division was transferred to Chiang Kai-shek's military attaché, and Sun Yuanliang took over as the commander of the 88th Division. In 1937, when he was stationed in Shanghai, Chiang Kai-shek allocated funds to build him fortifications, and all the money was enriched by him. A representative of a local student came to comfort the army, but he took the opportunity to flirt with a female student. Deputy Division Commander Feng Shengfa could not see the eyes, and sent the director of the Ordnance Department to persuade him, and Sun replied to him: Since ancient times, beauty has loved heroes.

In the final stage of the Battle of Husong, the national army's Baoshan Dachang defense line was lost, and the enemy suffered from the enemy on its stomach and back. Sun Yuanliang's 88th Division held Zhabei, and Sun Yuanliang persuaded his commander Gu Zhutong to leave only more than 300 people in the 1st Battalion of the 524th Regiment. And it was these less than four hundred people, who guarded the Sihang Warehouse, and then became famous in the first battle of the "Eight Hundred Heroes". After that, the "escaped" general Sun Yuanliang was promoted to the commander of the 72nd Army. In December 1937, on the eve of the Nanjing Massacre, Chiang Kai-shek intended to withdraw all his troops. Later, in consideration of his international influence, he sent the "fleeing" general Sun Yuanliang to garrison.

As a protégé of Chiang Kai-shek, Sun Yuanliang knew chiang kai-shek's psychology early on. Therefore, Sun Yuanliang did not actively prepare for the battle from the beginning. Later, according to his own words, before going to Nanjing, Jiang had reminded him that he was in a crisis and could escape from a certain ferry port, but after the incident, there were no boats at the ferry port. When the Japanese attacked, most of the 72nd Army led by Sun Yuanliang was killed because of the defense of the city, and he was the only one who survived because he hid in the Qinglou.

In 1948, his uncle Sun Zhen, who had suffered heavy losses in the Battle of Taierzhuang earlier and was later ostracized by Chiang Kai-shek, feared that his army would be swallowed up by Chiang, recommended Sun Yuanliang to be the commander of the 16th Corps. During the Battle of Huaihai, Sun Yuanliang, du Yumingmin and others were surrounded by Huaye's main force. Du decided to break through in three directions, and When Sun Yuanliang heard the news, he immediately ordered the soldiers to cut off the telephone line to prevent Du Yuming from suddenly changing his mind. Sure enough, Du Yuming didn't want to run halfway through, and at this time he couldn't contact Sun Yuanliang. Because Sun Yuanliang had already disguised himself as a farmer and fled.

After 1949, Sun Yuanliang ran to Baodao and quietly retired from politics to open a restaurant of his own. His past deeds are rarely mentioned, even to his children and grandchildren. In 2007, Sun Yuanliang died in Taiwan at the age of 103.
