But there are heroes, naturally there are scum, the Whampoa Military Academy surrendered to become traitors, and occasionally there are a few people. There are also some people who deserve to be encouraged in their integrity, but there are many problems in their ability and private morality, such as Liu Zhi and Hu Zongnan, who are known as "Pig Generals", and the person we want to talk about today is Sun Yuanliang, who graduated from the Huangpu Phase I.
Most of the people who graduated from the Whampoa Military Academy were reused, and among the people who graduated from the first phase of Whampoa, there were many famous figures, such as Du Yuming, Huang Wei, Yu Jishi, and so on, but at least these people were quite capable, but Sun Yuanliang seemed to be a little worse, although there were problems with his ability, but Sun Yuanliang's official promotion was not slow, and after Whampoa graduated, he served as the commander of the First Division of the First Army of the National Revolutionary Army, acting as the vanguard of the Northern Expedition, and repeatedly made military achievements.
In fact, the reason why Sun Yuanliang was reused is that his personal image was relatively good, Qiyu Xuanang, who was once an honor guard at the Whampoa Military Academy, and itself had a high cultural attainment, but in terms of performance on the battlefield, Sun Yuanliang was much worse, the first Northern Expedition, Chiang Kai-shek's First Army attacked Nanchang, which had already won, but because the First Army did not consolidate the results, it suffered a disastrous defeat, Nanchang was lost, when Sun Yuanliang led the first regiment to guard the Niuxing station and fled in the wind.
Later, in spite of the order, all the generals of the First Army after the war were reprimanded, Sun Yuanliang should have been shot according to military law, but fortunately at that time, someone interceded with him, looking at the face of loyalty in the past, Sun Yuanliang was later sent to the Japanese artillery school by the old Chiang Kai-shek to learn artillery knowledge, and did not return to China until 1928, and was promoted to the head of the artillery regiment, this time Sun Yuanliang's appearance made many people stunned.
Sun Yuanliang's ability also had great problems, but many people at that time did not find that during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, Sun Yuanliang was the commander of the 88th Division, and the 88th Division was the most elite German armament division, but Sun Yuanliang held this army in his hands, but he was not able to organize and use it well, and as a result, after the Defense of Nanjing, this unit suffered heavy losses and the German Armament Division no longer existed.
Sun Yuanliang later lived until the age of 103, becoming the longest living person in the Huangpu Phase I, and in his later years he also left the military, opened a noodle restaurant, and also wrote a memoir, at the age of 81, due to the Japanese right-wing forces opposing the Nanjing Massacre, Sun Yuanliang, regardless of his old age, stood up and severely accused, as a witness to the Nanjing Massacre that year, he also personally wrote a letter of protest.
