Through his strong diplomatic skills, Xie Baozhen soon became good sisters with Zhang Xueliang's wife Yu Fengzhi and Zhao Yidi, and under their influence, Zhang Xueliang and Yang Hucheng also became friends, and later the "like-minded" two jointly launched the Xi'an Incident.

Later, the Kuomintang separated Xie Baozhen and Yang Hucheng and detained them in solitary confinement. In despair, Xie Baozhen committed suicide several times without success. Until February 8, 1947, Xie Baozhen, who was only 34 years old, died of illness in prison. Two years later, her husband, Yang Hucheng, was also killed by agents after 12 years in captivity.
After the Xi'an Incident, Zhang Xueliang was also doomed, and he was also under house arrest by Chiang Kai-shek for decades, until he was released to the United States in 1995.
The first thing Zhang Xueliang did when he gained his freedom was to write a letter to Yang Zhengmin, yang Hucheng's eldest son: "Brother of the People of Salvation: Love your lover as yourself, Zhang Xueliang's letter of respect, December 21, 79. ”
On June 6, 1999, in front of a church in Hawaii, Zhang Xueliang, who was in a wheelchair, met Yang Han, the grandson of Yang Hucheng, and Zhang Xueliang only said 4 words, "Hello, hello", and could not say anything.
The following year, Yang Han attended Zhang Xueliang's centennial birthday. Zhang Xueliang, who was walking by the sea, met Yang Han and just watched silently and didn't talk about anything.
