In a U.S. poll, one-third of Americans believe that citizens' violent actions against the U.S. government are justified, an increase over previous years.

According to the Washington Post and Russia's Satellite News Agency, 40 percent of Republicans support violent action against the U.S. government, compared with 23 percent for Democrats and 41 percent for independents. The poll also found that 62 percent of respondents said violence was never justified, and 4 percent did not express an opinion.

Overall, the percentage of people who agreed to violence against the United States government has increased over the past few years. In October 2015, 23 percent said violent action against the U.S. government was justified, compared with 16 percent in January 2011 and April 2010, and 13 percent in April 1995, the researchers said.

The poll, initiated by The Washington Post and the University of Maryland, was conducted from December 17 to 19, 2021, and was conducted with 1,101 adults. The investigation was launched on the eve of the first anniversary of the riots in the Capitol in the United States. (Overseas Network Li Fang)
