The Tesla Model 3 that needs to be recalled involves domestic and imported versions, of which the imported Tesla Model 3 has a total of 35836 units, which were produced between October 4, 2018 and November 20, 2019, while the domestic Tesla Model 3 needs to recall 144208 vehicles, which were produced from October 14, 2019 to December 27, 2020. According to the official information, the reason why the Tesla Model 3 needs to be recalled is because the trunk lid may be over-worn after a long period of repeated opening and closing. If this wear causes the core of the coaxial cable to separate, it may cause the reversing image to not work properly, thus affecting the driver's field of vision when reversing, and in extreme cases increasing the risk of collision when reversing.
Tesla said that it will check the trunk wiring harness for this part of the Tesla Model 3 free of charge, in which if the degree of wear is within the allowable range of the design of the coaxial cable, a protective cover will be installed for the trunk wiring harness to prevent further wear; and if the degree of wear is beyond the allowable range of the coaxial cable design, then the vehicle will be replaced with a new harness and install a protective cover.
It is worth noting that Tesla also issued emergency measures, calling on relevant car owners to drive the vehicle cautiously before the vehicle recall, and contact the service center as soon as possible for vehicle maintenance. According to the official information, the reason why Tesla Model S needs to be recalled is that the vehicle may have a slightly backward alignment of the front trunk lock latch and the lock latch, which does not affect the locking of the primary lock latch, but may affect the locking of the secondary latch. When the primary lock latch is accidentally released, if the secondary lock latch is not locked, the front trunk cover may suddenly open during the vehicle's driving, affecting the driver's line of sight and increasing the risk of collision accidents.
After the recall of this part of the Tesla Model S, Tesla officials will check the secondary locking device of the front trunk cover for the vehicle free of charge, if it is found that the front trunk cover is not properly locked by the secondary locking latch device, the front trunk locking device will be repositioned and installed to ensure that it is in the correct position until the safety hazard is eliminated.
According to the State Administration for Market Regulation's Defective Product Management Center, Tesla has filed a total of six recalls in the domestic market this year. It is worth mentioning that although the recall is close to 200,000 vehicles, it is not the largest number of recalled products.
