On December 31, according to the State Administration for Market Regulation, Tesla Motors (Beijing) Co., Ltd. and Tesla (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. filed a recall plan with them and decided to recall a total of 199741 Model S and Model 3 electric vehicles from now on.
Tesla Motors (Beijing) Co., Ltd. recalled some imported Model S electric vehicles with production dates from January 21, 2015 to November 18, 2020, for a total of 19697, according to the notice. Vehicles covered by this recall may have a slightly backward alignment of the front trunk latch and the lock latch, which may not affect the locking of the primary latch, but may affect the locking of the secondary latch. When the primary lock latch is accidentally released, if the secondary lock latch is not locked, the front trunk cover may suddenly open during the vehicle driving, affecting the driver's line of sight, increasing the risk of collision accidents, and there is a safety hazard.
Tesla Motors (Beijing) Co., Ltd. will inspect the secondary locking latch device of the front trunk cover for the vehicles within the scope of the recall free of charge, and if the front trunk cover is found to be correctly locked by the second-level locking latch device, the front trunk locking device will be repositioned and installed to ensure that it is in the correct position to eliminate safety hazards.
In addition, Tesla Motors (Beijing) Co., Ltd. recalled a total of 35,836 model 3 electric vehicles imported from the production date from October 4, 2018 to November 20, 2019. Tesla (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. recalled a total of 144208 domesticAlly produced Model 3 electric vehicles with production dates from October 14, 2019 to December 27, 2020.
The trunk lid of the vehicles in these two batches has been repeatedly opened and closed for a long time, which may cause excessive wear of the trunk wiring harness. If this wear causes the core separation of the coaxial cable, it may cause the reversing image to not work properly, thus affecting the driver's field of vision when reversing, and in extreme cases, it will increase the risk of collision when reversing, and there is a safety hazard.
The notice said that Tesla Motors (Beijing) Co., Ltd. and Tesla (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. will check the trunk wiring harness free of charge for vehicles within the scope of the recall. If its degree of wear is within the allowable range of the design of the coaxial cable, a protective cover will be installed for the trunk harness to ensure that the harness has a sufficient bend radius when the trunk is closed to prevent further wear; if the degree of wear is beyond the allowable range of the coaxial cable design, the vehicle will be replaced with a new harness and a protective cover will be installed to eliminate safety hazards.
