Beijing Benz Automobile Co., Ltd.,

Mercedes-Benz (China) Automotive Sales Co., Ltd

Recall of some imported and domestically produced vehicles

Recently, Beijing Benz Automobile Co., Ltd. and Mercedes-Benz (China) Automobile Sales Co., Ltd. filed a recall plan with the State Administration for Market Regulations in accordance with the requirements of the Regulations on the Administration of the Recall of Defective Automobile Products and the Measures for the Implementation of the Regulations on the Administration of the Recall of Defective Automobile Products, and the following vehicles will be recalled.

1. Effective May 31, 2022, the recall will be made of some C-class, E-class, EQC, and GLC SUVs with production dates from June 4, 2021 to July 8, 2021, for a total of 2,365 vehicles. A plastic part on the front seat back adjustment mechanism of some vehicles covered by this recall was used incorrectly during the production process, resulting in the possibility of damage to this part. The seat backrest may get stuck in a reclining position during adjustment. If one side of the seat backrest gets stuck during adjustment, it may cause the backrest to twist and weaken the seat's ability to constrain the occupants. When a vehicle collides, it will increase the risk of injury to the occupants of the vehicle, and there is a safety hazard.

Beijing Benz Automobile Co., Ltd. will check the production time of the affected parts in the seat back adjustment mechanism for the vehicles within the scope of the recall through authorized dealers, and if it is within the affected time range, replace the seat back frame free of charge to eliminate safety hazards.

2. Effective May 9, 2022, one imported E-Class vehicle with a production date of March 8, 2021 will be recalled. The rear seat headrest guide sleeves of vehicles covered by this recall may not be properly fitted, resulting in the headrest not being secured to the seat. In the event of an accident in a vehicle, the rear headrest may move or detach from the seat, which increases the risk of injury to the occupants and poses a safety hazard.

Mercedes-Benz (China) Automobile Sales Co., Ltd. will inspect the installation of the rear seat headrest guide sleeve of the vehicle within the scope of the recall through the authorized mercedes-Benz dealer, and if it is not properly fixed, the headrest guide sleeve will be replaced free of charge to eliminate the safety hazard.

3. Effective May 9, 2022, one imported E-class vehicle with a production date of September 28, 2020 will be recalled. Due to deviations in the production process in the vehicles covered by this recall, the electrical plug of the left accelerometer collision sensor on the front beam was not tightened in accordance with the installation specifications, and the possibility of loose plugs due to vibration and other conditions during the driving of the vehicle could not be ruled out. If a vehicle has a frontal collision, this may cause the occupant restraint system to be activated or not activated, resulting in a decrease in the restraint protection performance, an increased risk of occupant injury, and a safety hazard.

Mercedes-Benz (China) Automobile Sales Co., Ltd. will inspect the electrical plugs of the left crash sensor on the front beam of the affected vehicle through an authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer. If the electrical plug is found to be loose or unscrambled, the plug is tightened to eliminate the safety hazard.

Authorized Mercedes-Benz dealers will notify users of the recall by registered mail, etc. Users can call the service hotline 400-818-1188 through landline or mobile phone (service hours are 24 hours a day, Monday to Sunday). In addition, you can also log on to the website dpac.samr.gov.cn, www.recall.org.cn, pay attention to the WeChat public account (SAMRDPAC) for more information and reflect the clues of defective products.
