In the tombs of the qing dynasty emperors, Xiaozhuang's mausoleum and its burial process can be described as very unique. The historical Xiaozhuang did not enter the earth until thirty-seven years after his death, and was buried outside the Qing Tombs in violation of the ancestral system. Among the emperors of the Qing Dynasty, the burial of Xiaozhuang is undoubtedly very special, and the reasons for this have always been controversial and controversial.
Xiaozhuang is the well-known Empress Xiaozhuang, that is, the Concubine Zhuang before the Emperor Taiji's death. After Shunzhi (Fu Lin) succeeded to the throne, his birth mother Concubine Zhuang was honored as empress dowager, and after Kangxi (玄烨) ascended the throne, she was honored as empress dowager. Because Xiaozhuang was a generation of sages and had made great achievements in the political arena in the early Qing Dynasty, it was well known and praised by people.

In the twenty-sixth year of the Kangxi Dynasty, Xiaozhuang died of illness. According to the ancestral system of the Qing Dynasty, Xiaozhuang should be buried with the Emperor Taiji. However, before xiaozhuang died, he told Kangxi:
"Emperor Taizongwen's Palace has been enshrined for a long time, and he is humble and dignified, and at this time he has not been buried together. If another domain is raised, it will not be spared from the masses of the laborers, and it will not be the righteousness of joint burial. I love my father and son, and I can't bear to go far away, so I have no regrets in my heart if I stay near Xiaoling. ——" Records of the Ancestors of the Qing Dynasty
XiaoZhuang's last wish was not to be buried with the Emperor Taiji, but to be buried near the Xiaoling Tomb in the Qing Dynasty. However, this request made Kangxi scratch his head very much. You know, the emperor of the Qing Dynasty greatly respected the ancestral system, and everything was based on the ancestors' law. At the same time, Kangxi was a very filial emperor and could not bear to disobey his grandmother. In this way, after the coffin of Xiaozhuang was suspended in the palace for seventeen days, it was sent to the Qing Tombs for temporary worship, until thirty-seven years later, when Yongzheng was the master to bury Empress Xiaozhuang.
So, why did Xiaozhuang give Kangxi such a "problem"?
Xiaozhuang was reluctant to be buried with Emperor Taiji, which was obviously contrary to the ancestral system. But why she is like this has become a mystery. Many people feel that this may be related to "filial piety and marriage".
The story of Xiaozhuang marrying is already very familiar to everyone, and it is said that after the death of Emperor Taiji, Xiaozhuang remarried the regent Dorgon in order to seek the stability of the Shunzhi throne. But in fact, most of this incident is a slanderous statement of the anti-Qing scholar Zhang Huangyan, and its authenticity is really difficult to verify.
It can be said that it is not very reasonable to analyze the legend of Filial Piety's marriage to analyze Xiaozhuang's last wishes. In fact, the "Yi Purpose" of filial piety recorded in the Records of the Ancestors of the Qing Dynasty is really not suitable for excessive interpretation. Judging from the situation at that time, this text really showed the true thoughts of this old woman's heart.
When Xiaozhuang was young, he was not particularly favored, and the throne of his son Fu Lin was not designated by Emperor Taiji, but when Dorgon and Hauge could not stand each other, they had no choice but to "give" out. It can be said that Xiaozhuang became a widow early and did not have too deep feelings for her husband.
After the death of Emperor Taiji, Xiaozhuang assisted two generations of emperors and became a very important woman in the political arena of the early Qing Dynasty. By the time Xiaozhuang was dying, the Qing army had already entered the customs for many years, and Xiaozhuang himself was accustomed to life in Guannei. At this time, it was really difficult for her to be buried in the northeast after death and buried with the Emperor Taiji.
In addition, in terms of personal feelings, Xiaozhuang's feelings for his son Shunzhi and grandson Kangxi are undoubtedly far beyond those for her husband, Emperor Taiji. It can be said that XiaoZhuang's will, the sincerity of the words, is really unwilling to go too far away from his children and grandchildren.
As for the reluctance to work hard to move the masses, it is just a kind of rhetoric. You know, the life of the emperors and queens of the Qing Dynasty, even if they are frugal, is far more luxurious than that of ordinary people, not to mention the squandering and burial after death, regardless of the cost. Of course, under the pretext of cherishing the people's strength, it has really become a big statement of filial piety, which can not only show his wisdom, but also have a powerful excuse.
The filial piety of Kangxi naturally did not want to disobey his grandmother. Therefore, he ordered people to choose a place to temporarily place the Zi Palace, and ordered people to build a palace modeled on the palace where Xiao Zhuang lived before his death. It is worth mentioning that because Xiaozhuang was very fond of a partial hall on the east side of the Cining Palace during his lifetime, Kangxi actually ordered someone to dismantle it and rebuild it in the Qing Tombs for his grandmother to "enjoy in peace".
From Kangxi's original heart, it was natural that he wanted to let Xiaozhuang settle down. However, due to the ancestral system, Kangxi could not bury Xiaozhuang in the Qing Tombs. In this way, Xiaozhuang's Zi Palace was shelved in this temporary "Domain".
It was not until the second year of Yongzheng that Yongzheng decided to build a mausoleum for Xiaozhuang on the spot. This mausoleum is the Zhaoxi Mausoleum of the Qing Dynasty. In the tombs of the empresses of the Qing Dynasty, the Tomb of Xiaozhuang and the Tomb of the Emperor Taiji can be described as more than a thousand miles apart, which is a special case. The reasons and grievances are quite clearly reflected in the "Records of the Ancestors of the Qing Dynasty", but everyone thinks too complicated.
