As mentioned earlier, after the marriage between Qin and Jin, the Jin state changed dynasties. The ungrateful behavior of the Duke Hui of Jin caused the wrath of the Qin state, and the two countries fought in Hanyuan, the Jin state was defeated, and the crown prince Yuan (yǔ) was taken hostage to Qin (647 BC).
Duke Mu of Qin had a kind heart, and did not treat him as a hostage at all, but instead married his daughter to him.
Of course, Qin Mugong was not a foolish person, and he also had his own political goals. Prince Yuan was the most likely person to become the future ruler of the Jin dynasty. If it is his son-in-law again, it is naturally the best for the Qin Kingdom.

What he did not expect was that Prince Yuan was not appreciative of Qin Mugong's overtures. In 638 BC, Duke Hui of Jin became seriously ill. Prince Yuan, worried that his brothers and sisters would seize the throne, did not quit and fled back to the Jin Dynasty alone.
A few months later, Crown Prince Huan successfully ascended the throne and ascended the ceremony. Qin Mugong was furious, and in his eyes, the newly enthroned Duke Huai of Jin (Crown Prince Yuan), like his father, was an ungrateful villain who did not deserve to cooperate with them.
This is indeed the case, but what can Qin Mugong do? At this time, Qin Mugong thought of a person, that is, the uncle of the Duke of Jin Huai.
In the civil unrest in Jin, Gongzi Yiwu fled with Gongzi Zhong'er. Gongzi Yiwu chose to turn to Duke Mu of Qin for help and ascended the throne. Heavy ears have been wandering outside for more than a decade.
Qin Mugong threw an olive branch to the heavy ear, and the heavy ear entered Qin, which was treated favorably by Qin Mugong. In order to win over Heavy Ear, Qin Mugong sent five women to Make Heavy Ear a wife and concubine. The sudden daughter-in-law made the heavy ear a little unable to cope, and there was a bit of sluggishness.
Who knew that one of the women was furious and said, "Qin and Jin have similar status, why do you look down on me?" ”
As soon as this remark came out, the heavy ears that were already confused were even more confused, but I also knew that this woman's identity was not ordinary. When Qin Mugong learned of this, he told Zhong'er: "She is my favorite daughter, and when the crown prince entered Qin as a hostage, he promised to betrothed to him." Now, the prince has run away, and he wanted to give his daughter Xu to you, but he was worried about ruining the reputation of the prince's heavy ears, so he did not hold a wedding. It was all my fault that I had humiliated my son. ”
When the crown prince heard this, he was shocked in his heart, it turned out to be a princess of the Qin Kingdom, even if it was a second marriage, it was not something he could offend. So he married a princess in the scenery of the Qin Kingdom.
In this way, Zhong'er became the son-in-law of King Mu of Qin, and the next year came to 636 BC. Qin Mugong sent an army to escort Zhong'er back to the Jin State, and under military oppression along the way, Chong'er ascended to the throne and became a famous Jin Wengong in history.
Duke Wen of Jin lived in exile for 19 years and had no foundation within the Jin dynasty. He was able to quickly settle down and establish the country, all by relying on the military strength of the Qin state. Without the support of Qin Mugong, it would have been impossible for jin Wengong to have hegemony. As a result, the relationship between the two countries has reached an unprecedented closeness.
Qin and Jin once again entered a honeymoon relationship with the same enemy. And under this kind of in-law relationship, how long can the friendly cooperation between the two countries be maintained? What kind of friction will arise during the honeymoon period between the two countries? We will continue in the next issue.
