A little Bit of the Qin Empire: The two countries that were originally the best of Qin and Jin, why did they go to the war to meet each other?

The previous issue mentioned that in 750 BC, the Qin state destroyed Xirong and occupied the territory west of qishan, and in the following decades, Qin gradually became stronger. At the same time, in eastern Qin, another country, Jin, was also rising rapidly.

When two high-speed developing princely states collide, there are always all kinds of contradictions. Before Duke Xuan of Qin succeeded to the throne (676 BC), the Jin state repeatedly tried to explore the border of the Qin state, and the people of the Qin state were overwhelmed.

After Duke Xuan of Qin succeeded to the throne, the Jin state became more and more intense, and the ministers advised one after another. In the fourth year of Qin Xuangong (672 BC), the Qin and Jin countries launched their first official confrontation.

Although, in the previous decades, the Jin state had always boasted of being strong and powerful, constantly harassing the territory of the Qin state, but when the two countries clashed, they fell behind. The Qin state had experienced many years of war, but instead suppressed the larger Jin army.

Although the Jin state was defeated, as a party with stronger national strength, it was not convinced. Since then, the war between the two countries has been like drinking water and eating, three times a day, and it has not fallen again and again.

The two wars lasted for sixteen years, and the Qin state also replaced two generations of monarchs, and the imperial throne also passed to a very great monarch in the history of the Qin state, Qin Mugong (659 BC).

After Qin Mugong succeeded to the throne, he saw not only the interests of Qin and Jin, but also the great changes in the situation at that time.

At this time, the Western Zhou Dynasty had been destroyed for a hundred years, and the Eastern Zhou was weak and powerless to rule the princes. Qi Henggong became the first overlord of the Spring and Autumn Period. If qin and Jin want to continue to develop, first of all, they cannot continue to consume.

Therefore, in 656 BC, Duke Mu of Qin was hired by the State of Jin and asked to marry the daughter of Duke Xian of Jin, known as Mu Ji. Mainly to ease the tension between the two countries, the first marriage of Qin and Jin began.

Among them, the most surprising thing to Qin Mugong is that there is an unusual politician among Mu Ji's dowry slaves, called Baili Xi, which we will describe in detail in the follow-up article, and here we still return to the story of Qin and Jin.

Although Qin Mugong actively eased the relations between the two countries, his plan could not catch up with the changes. The Jin state's conquest of the concubine disrupted Qin Mugong's plans.

In 655 BC, Li Ji, the favorite concubine of Duke Xiangong of Jin, framed the other three princes for rebellion, causing the three to die and flee. Li Ji's own son Xi Qi ascended the throne. Unfortunately, the matter was revealed, the ministers jointly put down a coup d'état, and the two were killed. Jin's internal affairs became even more confusing.

After Yiwu, who had fled abroad, learned of this, he took the initiative to turn to Qin Mugong and promised to give five cities to the Qin state after succeeding to the throne. Qin Mugong readily agreed.

However, after Yiwu succeeded to the throne, he was reluctant to hold the five cities in his hands, so he chose to turn his face and not recognize the account. Qin Mugong became the head of the injustice, and the relations between the two countries deteriorated again.

In 647 BC, during the Cold War between the two countries, the Jin state ushered in a great famine. There was no other way, and Duke Yiwu of Jin Hui asked for the head of Duke Mu of Qin.

Faced with the difficulties of the people of the Jin Dynasty, even in the case of poor relations between the two countries, Qin Mugong still chose to help.

However, Jin Huigong was not a person who knew how to repay the favor. The following year, the State of Qin also caused a famine and asked the State of Jin for help, but the State of Jin refused.

This moment, however, aroused the anger of the Qin state. After the State of Qin survived the famine by will, Qin Mugong raised an army to enter the Jin State, won three battles and three victories, crossed the Yellow River, and approached Hanyuan.
