Mercedes-Benz, the inventor of the car, also announced this year that it will transition from "electric first" to "fully electric".
After the launch of three pure electric SUVs, EQC, EQA and EQB, the first pure electric flagship sedan of mercedes-Benz-EQ brand, the new EQS, also made its Chinese debut at the Shanghai Auto Show in April this year. The first models on the market include the new EQS 450+ Pioneer Edition, the new EQS 450+ Deluxe Edition, the new EQS 450+ Advance Special Edition and the new EQS 580 4MATIC, priced at 1.0796 million yuan, 1.1936 million yuan, 1.3176 million yuan and 1.5186 million yuan, respectively.
The arrival of the new EQS not only enriches the product sequence of Mercedes-EQ, becoming an important milestone for Mercedes-Benz on the road to "full electric", but also in the name of S, it integrates design aesthetics, intelligent technology and electric driving, refreshing the benchmark of the current electric vehicle market from multiple dimensions, and becoming a veritable "S-class in electric vehicles".
Electric luxury: the longest range is up to 849 km
From the product line point of view, the new EQS and the new S level belong to the same level. However, you must not think that the new EQS is a new S-class electric version. In fact, the new EQS is mercedes-EQ's first all-electric luxury car based on the forward development of a large-scale pure electric model architecture (EVA) platform, and what it wants to do is "S-class in electric vehicles".
The new EQS is available in a variety of power versions with maximum power ratings of up to 380 kW and 4.4 seconds per 100 km/ h. The new EQS adopts ternary lithium batteries, both front and rear of the permanent magnet synchronous motor, driven by up to 111.8 kWh of batteries, its CLTC working range of up to 849 km (WLTP comprehensive working conditions up to 780 km), 100 km of electricity consumption as low as 14.2 kWh. Based on a 400-volt high-voltage battery system, the new EQS can replenish the charge from 10% to 80% in 48 minutes in 110 kW DC charging mode, and can replenish the power from 10% to 80% in 37 minutes at the earliest under specific charging power conditions (based on a high-power DC charging pile with liquid cooling device, charging power of 145 kW).
Not only that, but Mercedes-Benz's self-developed innovative battery management software can be updated through OTA remote online upgrades, and the new EQS energy management system can be continuously updated throughout the life cycle.
At the same time, like pure electric models such as EQC and EQB, the new EQS can also enjoy the high-quality five-star charging services (star escort, star companion, star butler, star assistant, star station) provided by Mercedes-Benz based on the specific electric vehicle usage scenarios in the Chinese market, and obtain a comprehensive and perfect experience including home smart charging wall boxes, public charging piles, valet charging services in urban hotspots, roadside assistance charging services and Mercedes-Benz exclusive charging stations.
Luxury by Design: A full range of luxurious sensory experiences
Although the new EQS has a deep relationship with the new S-Class, the appearance of the new EQS is clear from the difference between the new S-Class.

This design also reduces the wind resistance coefficient of the new EQS to 0.20Cd, becoming the leader in the global mass production model, and bringing extremely low wind noise performance and excellent quiet effect to the whole vehicle.
Inside the car, the new EQS makes full use of Mercedes-Benz's expertise in creating a sense of luxury. Its cockpit is designed with a wrap-around cockpit design and is available in both AMG style and electric art style suites. Technology luxury: thoughtful, comprehensive, intelligent
As a luxury electric car with extraordinary intelligence, the new EQS also spares no effort in the application of new technologies.
At a time when everyone is concerned about air quality, the new EQS is equipped with the "Changxin Air Shield" function to effectively improve the air quality in the car by integrating filtration systems, sensors, displays and air conditioning functions, with a filtration effect of 99.65% in the laboratory environment. In addition, thanks to the climate pre-control function, owners can also clean the internal air before entering the new EQS. The particle values inside and outside the car can also be displayed in real time in the MBUX intelligent human-computer interaction system, and if the external air quality is low, the system will recommend closing the side windows or sunroofs.
The all-encompassing sound experience on the new EQS is a prime example of the transition from a traditional car to an electric vehicle. The new EQS innovatively provides users with two simulated sound waves, "Silver Waves" Silver Wave and "Vivid Flux", which can be turned on or off on the central control screen.
What is particularly heartwarming is that the new EQS will also be equipped with Mercedes-Benz's latest generation of intelligent driver assistance system, with up to 350 sensors, including 1 lidar, 1 long-range millimeter wave radar, 4 angle radar, 12 parking ultrasonic sensors, 1 front-facing binocular stereoscopic multi-function camera, 4 360° parking cameras, etc., which can accurately measure the perceived distance, speed, acceleration, lighting conditions, rainfall and temperature, seat usage, etc. as well as the driver's eyelid movements or the language of the passengers. Driver Assistance Component Enhanced Edition (P20) is also a new standard, including intelligent pilot distance limiting function, active lane keeping assist system, preventive safety system, active stop-and-go assist system and other functions, intelligent pilot steering function, active brake assist system, avoidance steering assist system, active blind spot assist system, etc., to provide drivers with a full range of safety protection.
In addition, the new EQS is based on a purely electric architecture platform, opening up new design possibilities for its safety concept. For example, since there is no need to reserve a place for a large crankcase, the new EQS can better model frontal collisions.
