According to the United Nations estimate in 2021, more than 70 million people around the world have autism, and there are nearly 10 million autistic people in China. With the popularization of autism, diagnosis, rehabilitation training and national policy support, everyone knows more and more about autism, but even if everyone knows the existence of autistic people, why does such a large group not get the attention and heat matching its number? What is even more bizarre is that there are nearly 10 million autistic people in China, why can't they be seen on the street? Rarely seen in our circle of life?

In fact, in the early reports on autism, it is not difficult to see that some parents face changes in their children, even if the hospital has been diagnosed, the psychology of parents is still facing a larger stress response, after experiencing denial - confusion - anger - guilt - pain - gradual acceptance of the mental process, some parents lock their children at home, do not let them communicate with the outside world, more afraid of relatives and friends to know that the child is autistic or mistakenly think that it is a "fool", it is conceivable that in the family with autism and "forced" to understand autism, How many doubtful parents are there, and how little understanding of autism is in society as a whole, and how many autistic people are mistaken for idiots and fools.

Autism is a disease of mental disorders throughout life, persistent rehabilitation education is very important to improve children's ability and quality of life, but because of the specialization of autism rehabilitation training, uneven rehabilitation training capabilities, information asymmetry between urban and rural areas, resulting in many autistic children can only receive rehabilitation in different places, which makes the already high rehabilitation cost plus eating, wearing and living in different places become more expensive, and also form a vicious circle, the high cost that families can not afford eventually lead to training interruptions, and make them aggravate the disease. Once autistic children miss the best training period or are unable to adhere to long-term rehabilitation, it is more difficult for them to achieve recovery in the future, and it is completely a burden on the family.

Duan Jie, who lives in Taiyuan City, is the mother of two children, the eldest son Kai Kai is more than twenty years old this year, the younger son has just entered primary school, but Duan Jie does not dare to let the eldest son leave his own step, it is because Kai Kai is an elderly autistic child, before the child was three years old, Duan Jie was originally a state-owned enterprise employee, stable work and family happiness, after the child was diagnosed, in order to let him receive treatment as soon as possible, Duan Jie resolutely resigned from work despite his family's opposition and accompanied the child for treatment. Duan Jie took Kai Kai to study and recover in various special education institutions in Taiyuan and Beijing, and even lived in Beijing for three years. But the children are slowly growing up, and now they are in their early 20s, and there is no institution to accept such a large number of children, where should they go? Go back to your little room? In order to let the children have a better physical and mental growth environment and maintain contact with the society and the crowd, Duan Jie led several parents to set up a public welfare organization "Shanxi Fenghui Mental Disorder Care Center", the purpose is also to warm up the group.

In just two years, from the initial stage of no experience, no money, no one recognized, stumbling all the way over, Duan Jie almost single-handedly made this institution prosperous, there are more than 30 children of all sizes to participate, you can imagine how difficult it is, Duan Jie said that her son stimulated her potential, had to engage in this more difficult but also more special significance of the cause. If you don't stand up bravely, who can see these silent children? Duan Jie looked at the eldest son in the corner who bowed his head and said that in fact, he did not know what to do in the future of his child, but as a parent, he arranged everything he could consider for his child, and his heart could feel better.

After learning about the difficulties of Duan Jie and the Care Center, the Shanxi Welfare Foundation for the Disabled took the initiative to invite them to participate in the Foundation's Tencent public welfare project, and specially established the project "Jinxin Helps the Stars Handicraft Workshop", so that these elderly autistic children can follow the teachers, which not only helps rehabilitation treatment, but also enriches the children's spare time. After two years of hobby learning, the elderly autistic children in the care center have been able to make their own handmade items such as scented candles, handmade soaps, wool felt pendants and so on. The foundation also asks teachers to teach children to draw, sing, play drums, basketball and bake. From washing dishes to a housework, to food, clothing, housing and transportation, the Shanxi Provincial Welfare Foundation for the Disabled hopes that children with autism can gradually master the skills of daily life, so that in the future life path, children are not excluded, rely on their own strength to support themselves, self-reliance.

After the foundation's designated project help, Kai Kai and other children are getting better step by step, and the various handicrafts made by the children are also sold online through the foundation, and the funds raised are still used in their daily rehabilitation training and life. In December 2021, the Shanxi Welfare Foundation for the Disabled organized a special person to organize condolences again and accompany the children to make handicrafts together. The Foundation will also update the rehabilitation of autistic children in a timely manner in the future, and we also hope that more volunteers and caring people will join us to contribute to the autistic children.
