Yu Chengwan, born in 1902, a native of Ningxing Village, Gaocun, Baisha Town, Taishan, Guangdong Province, was the first student of the Whampoa Military Academy, born as a Confucian general, deeply respected by Chiang Kai-shek, and was known as General Hu Ben.

In the Battle of Changde, Chiang Kai-shek hand-picked Yu Chengwan to lead the 57th Army to defend the city in Changde. Four months later, after intercession, Yu Chengwan was sentenced to serve two years in prison and released before his sentence was completed.

After the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, Yu Chengwan was transferred to Yunnan as the commander of the 26th Army and the commander of the Bandits in Eastern Yunnan, which had 30,000 men. When King Luhan of Yunnan revolted, Yu Chengwan was able to drag it out and did not take action.

Chiang Kai-shek ordered Yu Chengwan to report to Taiwan for duty. Yu Chengwan was in the business of rice shops and grocery stores in Hong Kong, and also co-founded a pawnshop, and the business was relatively prosperous. Yu Chengwan's wealth aroused the covetousness of bandits. On August 27, 1955, Yu Chengwan's Ping Shan apartment was robbed by bandits, and the neighbors found out and called the police. During the gun battle between the police and bandits, Yu Chengwan unfortunately died.
