On March 24, 1927, the Northern Expeditionary Army occupied the city of Nanjing, and the citizens of Nanjing held a celebration meeting, but unexpectedly the British warships on the Yangtze River opened shelling and bombarded, resulting in more than 2,000 casualties. The atrocities of the British army provoked the anger of the people of the whole country.
On March 31, all walks of life in Chongqing held a meeting of solidarity with Nanjing at Dagun Dam. Unexpectedly, as soon as the congress was announced, gunfire broke out. Soldiers of Liu Xiang's 21st Army, who were mixed up in disguise at the venue in advance, and Ding Ofe, a militia regiment in Ba County, opened fire on the crowd and pursued and killed the unarmed masses with iron rods and large knives.
This is the famous Chongqing 331 Massacre.
On that day, the thugs killed more than a hundred people on the spot, trampled hundreds of people to death, and wounded more than a thousand people. This appalling massacre was ostensibly caused by the Sichuan warlord Liu Xiang, but Liu Xiang was just a local warlord in Sichuan, so how dare he take this risk for the British and inflict this poisonous hand on the Sichuan people?
It turned out that there was a director behind the scenes of the Tri-31 Massacre.
This person was a cadet of the third phase of the Whampoa Military Academy, named Yang Yinzhi. He entered Sichuan on behalf of Chiang Kai-shek to contact the Sichuan warlords. Liu Xiang was the commander of the 21st Army, and chiang kai-shek, who had military power, naturally bowed his knees. Yang Yinzhi also operated among Liu Xiang's soldiers, capturing the Chongqing garrison commanders Wang Lingji, Lan Wenbin, and the regimental warlord Cao Xieyang. They accepted Yang Yinzhi's lobbying to "support Chiang Kai-shek and oppose communism," so they created the Tri-31 Massacre.
After the massacre, Liu Xiang and others also forcibly killed Yang Mingong, secretary of the Sichuan Local Committee of the Communist Party of China and a famous communist.
Yang Yinzhi made a great contribution to Chiang Kai-shek, so he triumphantly went out of the door and went back to repay the merits.
Who knew that when he arrived in Wuhan, he was seized and arrested by the revolutionary masses.
However, Xu Qian, the minister of justice of the National Government, sided with Chiang Kai-shek and said that he would talk about benevolence and not sentence him to death. When the masses in Wuhan learned of this, they resolutely refused to agree, and the cadets of the Whampoa Military Academy in Wuhan were also indignant, especially those in Chongqing, who were even more eager to get Yang Yinzhi to get a thousand knives.
So everyone shouted the slogan: "To be merciful to the counter-revolutionaries is to be cruel to the revolutionaries." Wuchang Long Street quickly converged into a surging flow of people. Workers, peasants, students, male and female students of the military academy all joined the ranks and went to the National Government to petition.
In the end, under the efforts of Wu Yuzhang, a member of the Kuomintang Central Committee and a communist, the Nationalist government finally sentenced Yang Yinzhi to death.
On April 20, Yang Yinzhi, a murderous executioner, was shot dead in Wuhan.
At this time, only 20 days have passed since the 331 massacre. Yang Yinzhi did not succeed in receiving the reward, but instead delivered it to the door and was shot.
