Rolls-Royce, which showcased its first production electric vehicle a few months ago, and the Spectre, which will launch in the fourth quarter of 2023, currently knows little about purely electric Rolls-Royce, but a new report suggests it could use the most powerful electric powertrain developed by the BMW Group.
The report suggests that the Rolls-Royce Pure Electric Spectre will not be based on BMW's existing platform. Instead, Rolls-Royce will use a completely new, customized architecture, and although it doesn't have its own electric powertrain and doesn't have a lot of money and time to develop from scratch, spectre says spectre can use the powertrain currently being developed for the BMW iX M60.
The motor system that applies BMW iX M60, with a front and rear dual motor settings, will provide about 600 horsepower for the iX, and for this oversized SUV model, it also ensures a strong power output, with an acceleration time of 100 kilometers and 4 seconds, which can be compared to the power performance of the Rolls-Royce legendary V12 engine.
What we know now is that Rolls-Royce Ghost will undergo a comprehensive test program that will cover approximately 1.55 million miles, and the all-electric version of Rolls-Royce will be handcrafted in Goodwood on the same production line as the current Rolls-Royce range. Spectre will be the first step in the brand's strategy to move to all-electric by 2030. Like some other brands, including Acura, Rolls-Royce will skip the hybrid phase and instead focus entirely on developing EV models. Meanwhile, Rolls CEO Torsten Müller-TVS recently said the V12 engine will be "in use for a long time."
