Jingzhou, also known as Jiangling, is located in the south-central part of Hubei, the main stream and tributaries of the Yangtze River, there are thousands of large and small lakes, including the Honghu Lake with an area of 35,000 hectares, in the Three Kingdoms period, Jingzhou's territory was even larger, covering the entire territory of Hubei and Hunan provinces and parts of Henan, which was a place of contention for princes.
The princes of the Three Kingdoms, whether Sun Quan Liu Bei or Cao Cao, were all looking at this land and hoping to get a piece of the pie, Cao Cao occupied the largest Nanyang County in northern Jingzhou and Jiangxia County in the north of the Yangtze River, Sun Quan obtained Jiangxia County and most of the Southern Counties south of the Yangtze River, and Liu Bei obtained four counties in southern Jingzhou (Changsha, Lingling, Guiyang, and Wuling).
Later, these three princes were able to achieve their hegemony, and they were inseparable from Jingzhou.
Jingzhou was already famous long before the Three Kingdoms, and the place name of Jingzhou comes from the "Shang Shu Yugong": "Jing and Hengyang only Jingzhou", which is one of the oldest nine prefectures in China, named after the Jingshan Mountain in the original territory.
From 689 BC, when King Wen of Chu moved the capital to Yingcheng (in Jingzhou), including the twenty monarchs of the Chu state, plus the Eastern Jin Dynasty Jin Emperor and the Southern Qi of the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms, a total of 34 emperors of six dynasties of Later Liang set the capital here, which is enough to see how important Jingzhou is to the forces that occupy it.
However, as history progressed little by little, Jingzhou also began to decline slowly, and in the last years of the Eastern Jin Dynasty, Jingzhou still had a very large land, and in the Southern Dynasty period, the rulers of the Song Dynasty further weakened the local forces of Jingzhou in order to disintegrate the local forces of Jingzhou, facilitate their own rule, and further weaken the local power of Jingzhou.
In the 22nd year of Yuan Jia (445 AD), Song Wendi set up a separate prefecture under Jingzhou, Yongzhou, and made his son Liu Jun the Assassin, and at the same time, from the administrative division of Jingzhou, Xiangyang, Nanyang Xinye and other places were also transferred to the government of Yongzhou, and the Jingzhou Thorn History lost the administrative power of these places.
Later, the Yuan Dynasty implemented the provincial system, Jingzhou was included in Huguanghang Province, including Hunan Hubei and Guangdong Guangxi and other regions, by the middle of the Qing Dynasty, further divided, completely divided into Hunan Hubei administrative region, Jingzhou's place was further reduced, and then slowly disappeared into the public.
Today's Jingzhou is a prefecture-level city in Hubei Province, because it has a very long history, it is also one of the national historical and cultural cities, but now Jingzhou has a population of nearly 6.5 million, the gross domestic product is 192.218 billion yuan. Changsha, which has only two million more people, has a GDP of 1,100.341 billion yuan. In contrast, the difference is still relatively large.
At present, Jingzhou can only be counted as a third-tier city, but Jingzhou has great potential in terms of tourism value, population base, or natural resources, and now Jingzhou is vigorously developing the economy and looking forward to a better future for this city
