Microsoft officially cooperated with iFixit to release the Surface repair tool

IT House December 14 news, according to mspoweruser reported that in response to the growing maintenance rights movement, Microsoft and iFixit partnered to provide iFixit Pro independent repairers, Microsoft authorized service providers, Microsoft Experience Center and Microsoft business customers with official Surface repair tools.

Kyle Wiens, CEO of iFixit, said: "Microsoft has taken a big step to enable their customers to access repair services, and the timing is perfect because the repair rights movement is growing rapidly in the United States. Providing OEM tools will give service technicians the ability to help their customers keep their equipment running longer. ”

IT House has learned that the program has introduced three tools, as well as weights and accessories, all designed by Microsoft and manufactured by iFixit. These tools enable precise degumming and re-bonding of adhesives for select Microsoft Surface models and will undergo the same rigorous quality testing and attention to detail as other iFixit products.

Surface display adhesive frame, used with weights, presses the screen assembly onto the device to ensure proper bonding. The frame is fitted with a 12"x 12-inch 3/8-inch thick EVA foam that is placed under the device during service.

Surface display debonding tool to detach screen components from your device. The tool ensures that the hole opener is inserted into the device just deep enough to separate the screen assembly without damaging other parts. This tool is designed to repair Microsoft's Surface Pro 7+, Surface Pro 8, and Surface Pro X.

Surface Battery Cover, place on top of an open device to ensure that you don't accidentally touch the motherboard or other sensitive parts. This part is compatible with Microsoft Surface Laptop 3 (13.5-inch, 15-inch), Surface Laptop 4 (13.5-inch, 15-inch), Surface Laptop Go, Surface Laptop SE, and Surface Laptop Studio devices.

iFixit notes that the release of these tools is just the beginning, and Microsoft is committed to supporting future Surface devices in the same way. iFixit and its online community are also actively writing new workshop manuals for these products.
