At the rally square of the Memorial Hall of the Compatriots Killed in the Nanjing Massacre of the Japanese Army invading China, at 8:00 a.m. today (13th), the flag-at-half-mast ceremony began. Three salute soldiers of the tri-service honor guard set off from the entrance of the Memorial Museum, with sonorous steps, and they escorted the national flag along the stone road to the flagpole in the center of the square. Raising the flag, saluting, the flag reaches the top of the flagpole, stays for a few seconds, and then slowly lowers the flag to the position of the lower half-mast under the silent gaze of the entire audience – which marks the beginning of the series of ceremonies of the National Day of Commemoration for the Victims of the Nanjing Massacre.
