"What happened after my death, I would like to instruct Ru: Emperor Taizong Wen's Palace has been enshrined for a long time, and he is humble and respectful, and he has not been buried together at this time. If another domain is raised, the laborers move the masses, and it is not the righteousness of joint burial. I love Ru father and son, I can't bear to stay away, only in Zunhua Prefecture Lingmu near the place of peace, I have no regrets! ——" Records of Emperor Sejongxian
In fact, through the above, we can already see the instructions left by Empress Xiaozhuang to Kangxi, which is very clear, that is, not to be buried with the emperor Taiji, and to be buried near the Qing Dongling Tomb of the Shunzhi Emperor.
Kangxi respected Xiaozhuang very much, originally as long as he could do it, but there was a new problem, although Shunzhi ye was the emperor, but Xiaozhuang was his mother after all, if this mother was buried in the Qing Dongling, it would be one level higher than shunzhi's xiaoling, if the tomb of Xiaozhuang was lower than that of Shunzhi, then this "filial piety" was not filial piety, and Kangxi naturally could not do such ironic things. After much contemplation, a "temporary shrine" was built, and the coffin of Xiaozhuang was temporarily enshrined here.
It is reasonable to say that this Xiaozhuang should be buried with her husband Emperor Taiji after death, but Xiaozhuang made a will not to do so, in fact, Xiaozhuang has his own considerations, not the will written in the will: "I love Ru father and son, and I can't bear to stay away." "Isn't it uncomfortable to be far away from home, away from her husband?"
First, Xiaozhuang did not want to embarrass Kangxi
If Xiaozhuang did not make this will, Kangxi would not bury Xiaozhuang with Emperor Taiji, which was mainly influenced by the idea of "humble and immobile", which is Xiaozhuang's consistent proposition, the best way is to build a tomb near the Emperor Taiji Mausoleum, but in this way, Kangxi will be very difficult, because he has great respect for Empress Xiaozhuang, Huang Taiji and Empress Xiaoduanwen are buried together, and Xiaozhuang is buried alone, Kangxi will not bear it. Therefore, Empress Xiaozhuang made this will, for herself, for Kangxi, you can have steps down to avoid embarrassment.
Second, the unspeakable secret of filial piety
The sudden death of Huang Taiji made everything chaotic. Dorgon soon gained real power, and he promoted Shunzhi, the son of Empress Xiaozhuangwen, to be emperor, and of course, this Shunzhi emperor was only a puppet emperor at that time. Dorgon's power grew larger, and he had the idea of going further, but he never did it, all because of Empress Xiaozhuangwen, why Dorgon chose Shunzhi as emperor, but also because of Empress Xiaozhuangwen. For the sake of the overall situation, Empress Xiaozhuangwen committed herself to Dorgon, which saved the imperial power of Shunzhi, although it is not necessarily true that Empress Xiaozhuangwen married Dolgun, but it is 9 times out of ten that Empress Xiaozhuangwen and Dolgun are married. Therefore, Xiaozhuang felt ashamed of Emperor Taiji, so he did not want to be buried with Emperor Taiji, and only stayed with Shunzhi and Kangxi.
Third, the embarrassing reality
The mausoleum of the Emperor Taiji is a joint burial, and it has been many years. Among them were Huang Taiji and Empress Xiaoduanwen, and it was indeed inappropriate for her to go to the joint burial, and Empress Xiaoduanwen was her aunt, so there was indeed some embarrassment in the joint burial of the xingshi and the masses.
Kangxi's reluctance to xiaozhuang
Empress Xiaozhuang's help to Kangxi was too great, although Kangxi's own strength was very strong, but in his youth, it was up to Empress Xiaozhuang to support the situation. In the face of Aobai, Kangxi was too tender, and it was Xiaozhuang who had been supporting him behind his back that he successfully took Aobai and secured the throne. When he was slashed three times, he was almost too hasty, and it was Xiaozhuang who came forward to stabilize the situation, which led to the later pacification of San Francisco. It can be said that without Empress Xiaozhuang, there would be no Kangxi Emperor. Therefore, Kangxi had great respect for Xiaozhuang, and the coffin of Xiaozhuang had been parked in the "Temporary An Fengdian Hall" for 37 years, and there was also Kangxi's reluctance to Xiaozhuang.
