Empress Chengzongyi, known as "Xiao Yu'er" in some film and television works, is the sister of Empress Xiaozhuang, in fact, Empress Chengzongyi is not the sister of Empress Xiaozhuang, and the relationship between her and Empress Xiaozhuang is more complicated.

It is said that Empress Chengzongyi's mother was Princess Horqin, also known as Gongbu Fujin. Princess Horqin initially married Belle Manggus of the Horqin Province, who was the father of Empress Xiaoduanwen (哲哲), the grandfather of Empress Xiaozhuangwen. After Manggus's death, Manggus's grandson Sonomam adopted Princess Horqin according to custom, and Empress Chengzongyi was the daughter of Sonomu and Princess Horqin.

Sonomu was empress xiaozhuang's brother, so in summary, Empress Chengzongyi was both empress Xiaoduanwen's half-sister and empress Xiaozhuangwen's niece. (Note: Empress Xiaoduanwen was empress Xiaozhuangwen's aunt)

In the sixth year of Shunzhi, at that time, Dorgon was already the regent of the emperor's father, and his power reached its peak, however, unexpectedly, Empress Chengzongyi died of illness at the end of this year, which is estimated to be more than twenty years old. After Empress Chengzongyi's death, Dorgon used his power to posthumously honor the concubine Fujin:

Emperor Taizongwen knew er Xiangui and brought Er and Yu with him since childhood. Er's self-encounter with giving, dignified, respectful, intelligent, benevolent and benevolent, is in line with giving. The passing away is infinite, and the sorrow in the heart is infinite, and all the peoples are also mourning. Reading life and death is the common sense of man, and the canonization of the posthumous title is a great gift, so the name of the He'erjia line is fixed, and the treasure is specially given, and the posthumous honor and filial piety are honored and loyal to the concubines of the Palace. ”
