Long Yun was born on November 19, 1884, to a peasant family in Songle Village, Yanshan District, En'an (present-day Zhaotong City), Yunnan Province, because the village where he lived was extremely remote and backward, and there was no school, and he had not been able to read and write.

In 1890, after the death of Long Yun's father, his mother was lonely and alone, and took him back to his mother's house in Zhongzhai, Yanshan Township, to live with Long Yun's uncle Long Deyuan, long Zeqing's daughter Long Zeqing was promised to Long Yun's cousin Lu Han, and after a few years, Long Deyuan sent Long Yun and Lu Han to the new school in Zhaotong City to study.

At the end of 1914, when the students graduated, there was a performance of a national art at the graduation ceremony of the Tangwutang, when a famous French boxer came to Yunnan and asked Tang Jiyao, the yunnan overseer who was the principal of the Yunnan Daowutang, to come and watch the ceremony.
The French boxer was more arrogant, and after watching the performance of the Chinese martial arts, he laughed at it, saying that Chinese martial arts were of no use in actual combat, and he also had people set up a ring on the playground and asked the students of the Martial Arts Hall to come on stage to compete with him.
For several days, the students lost in the competition, and the French boxer was even more arrogant.
So, everyone together elected Long Yun, who had the highest martial arts among the students, to the stage, Long Yun prepared for a few days, he boarded the ring, and fought with the French boxer, according to the same student, the sichuan army general Yang Sen later recalled, that day, the thin Long Yun played Nanzong fist, the moves were continuous, the changes were endless, and the French boxer blindly attacked, and there were many flaws exposed in his Western boxing style, so Long Yun flashed and moved in a series of shawl styles, taking advantage of the boxer's dazzling, casting a "shan leg", so that the tall foreign boxer lost his center of gravity, Fall to the ground and admit defeat.
This contest made Long Yun famous in one fell swoop, and was appreciated by Tang Jiyao, who transferred him to his side as a guard, and soon became the captain of the guard, becoming the beginning of Long Yun's future ability to take charge of heavy troops.
What Long Yun did not expect was that the news of his victory in the competition with the foreign boxers soon spread throughout Kunming, making him a hero worshipped in the hearts of the female students at that time, in 1915, the girls of the Yunnan Provincial Women's Normal School took the initiative to elect representatives to visit and greet Long Yun, one of the representatives was called Li Peilian, the other was called Gu Yingqiu, and later, these two girls became Mrs. Long Yun one after the other.

3. Overwork into illness, difficult childbirth and death, Long Yun is not eager to live, accompanied by the construction of a tomb
Li Peilian gave birth to four sons and a daughter for Long Yun, namely Long Yun's four sons Long Rope Wen, five sons Long Rope Xun, six sons (early death), seven sons Long Shengde and daughter Long Guobi, and later all of them were very successful.
Intensive childbearing, coupled with a long period of following her husband to fight and deal with political affairs, so that Li Peilian's body became very weak, on June 23, 1932, Li Peilian in the birth of her young son Long Shengde, due to difficult childbirth and excessive blood loss and fainted, on the occasion of dying, she told Long Yun to remarry as soon as possible to support the Complicated Affairs, young children of the Long family, but also specially recommended a friend Gu Yingqiu.
Long Yun was extremely sad and lost his arm, and in order to express his thoughts on Li Peilian, he wore Li Peilian's most beloved emerald green ring on his right hand and did not take it off for many years.
Before his death, Li Peilian placed great hopes on Long Yun's rule of Yunnan, hoping that he would be able to build a "new Yunnan" and put Yunnan, which was once a people's livelihood and warlords in a chaotic war, embark on the road of modernization.
With the help of Li Peilian, Long Yun reformed the currency system in Yunnan, developed education, science and technology, and culture, and achieved a lot of achievements, and at this time, Long Yun believed that the death of his wife was very related to the backward medical conditions in Yunnan, so in October of that year, at the provincial government meeting, he proposed the establishment of a provincial hospital, with funds donated by Li Peilian's jewelry 50,000 yuan, and the provincial treasury allocated 100,000 yuan to build Kunhua Hospital.
In 1934, the first Western-style hospital in Yunnan Province was officially completed, with a plaque of "Legacy and Longevity" hanging, and the "Red Lotus Pavilion" was built in the courtyard to commemorate Li Peilian.
Long Yun, who had lost his beloved wife, arranged a grand funeral for his deceased wife, and when he calmed down, he thought of all the frugal requirements behind Li Peilian's death, so he gave all the ceremonial guards at the funeral to the temple.
He ordered Li Peilian to find a quiet cemetery for Li Peilian, and finally chose the site at the foot of the Phoenix Mountain next to Dianchi Lake, in 1933, Long Yun ordered people to build a two-story French-style building next to the tomb as a tomb, and he often came here to quietly organize manuscripts for his deceased wife.
Taking the name of Li Peilian's study of Red Lotus Xuan as the title, he published a volume of "Red Lotus Xuan Manuscript" and "Red Lotus Xuan Residual Ink", containing five poems and twenty-three poems and some Linti calligraphy, which Long Yun personally dictated, sorted out by the secretary, and wrote "Ben Yan" (preface to the publication), recording his relationship with Li Peilian.
