Bing Xin and Lin Hui were at odds, not because the latter looked down on her style.
Bing Xin and Lin Huiyin are both from Fuzhou ancestry and have some relatives, and their husbands were once classmates in college. But why did they turn against them later? This is mainly because Bing Xin wrote a novel called "The Wife's Living Room".

When this novel came out, no matter how BingXin explained that he was not writing Lin Huiyin, the other party refused to believe it. It is said that Lin Hui, because he was in Shanxi at that time, specially sent back a pot of vinegar from Shanxi to Bingxin, and the two people have broken off friendship since then.
Today's readers generally believe that Bing Xin is purely out of jealousy of Lin Huiyin, so he wrote this novel. One of the reasons is that Lin Hui is beautiful, while Ding Ling is ugly.
Another reason is that Bingxin is born with poor character, otherwise how could she attack her friends? This view is not to understand some of the laws of modern novel creation.
The "prototype" of the characters in the novel was originally meant to be found from real life. Bing Xin is just in the process of selecting the character archetype, there are some things that have not been handled well, too realistic.
As for jealousy of Lin Huiyin, did she have it? Definitely there is. However, this is not shameful. Fiction writers, and all literary authors, are allowed to have all kinds of "negative emotions." All kinds of "complexes" are the food of novel art.
The author can not only be selfish, can be jealous, but also greedy, which is just an artistic act. However, using the "prototype" around you to create a novel will inevitably offend the people around you, which is also an indisputable truth.

Lu Xun also wrote an altarpiece for her, and Shen Congwen once lived in the same building as Ding Ling. In order to mourn Ding Ling, he wrote a novel "Ding Lingji".
Shen Congwen thought that he did not have any malicious intent, but he made a low-level mistake. After Ding Ling returned alive, his article should have been published at the bottom of the box. As a result, Shen Congwen published the novel in 1934.
Shen Congwen is good at writing novels, and the article involves some of Ding Ling's privacy in love, and the result is that he tells it in the tone of a novel, which is inevitably mixed with too many personal emotions. Finally, when Ding Ling saw it, he would naturally turn against him.
Shen Congwen's problem is that he overestimated his "non-fiction writing" ability, while Bingxin's problem is that she overestimated her "fictional ability".
Of course, it is recommended here that all people who write novels should not easily take their acquaintances as "prototypes". Especially friends, whether you are fictional or not, it is easy to offend people when you write it.
But this matter can only be regarded as Bingxin's "not smart enough", but it has little to do with "character".
Bingxin is not liked by lu xun, Zhang Ailing, Su Qing, Mao Dun and other writers, and the most fundamental reason is that the styles of their works are too different.
In the context of "May Fourth", in that era, everyone liked a sharper style of writing, and Bingxin was mainly sought after by some young people at that time. In mainstream literary circles, literary leaders believe that literature should speak for the revolution.
Either like Lu Xun, he pins the situation and has a sharp style; or like Zhang Ailing, he writes feelings to the extreme, the legend of dog blood.
However, the kind of thing that Bing Xin wrote really seemed to be written by someone who had not experienced too many storms. The cloud is light and gentle, soft and gentle, but she is also influential in the reader, so it is particularly annoying.
Here is a not very appropriate analogy, they despise each other, just like Han Han used to scare Guo Jingming: I am a man, she is a woman!
Assuming that Bingxin did not have influence in the literary world at that time, it is difficult to imagine that Lu Xun and Zhang Ailing, who are literary masters, would still put their mouths on Bingxin's body.
In addition, the reason why Bingxin was able to be popular with the Morning News Supplement when she was in college was because her cousin Liu Fangyuan worked at this newspaper.
And Ling Shuhua, who was a contemporary of Bingxin, wanted to publish an article in this newspaper until four years later, under the recommendation of Zhou Zuoren. So the reason for this, needless to say, everyone knows.
"Morning News Supplement" published a large number of novels and essays of Bingxin, and after winning the red ice heart, Bingxin took the accumulated fans to the "Novel Monthly" to continue to become popular.
Su Qing's so-called: I used to like her text, and finally I saw the photos and thought it was ugly, so I didn't like it. It may be true, but it is more likely that Su Qing did not like her in the first place.
Because Su Qing may just be wondering what this popular female writer looks like. However, when Su Qing really understood, he finally found "Nüerer".
So after talking about so much earlier, everyone should know why Bingxin is so unlikable, right? The main reason is that her fame is too light, and her influence among students during the May Fourth period once surpassed that of Lu Xun (Ah Ying's "Preface to Xie Bingxin's Sketches").
However, Bingxin's style was not recognized by the mainstream literary circles and some big names at that time. And her and Lin Huiyin's problems, purely herself, did not grasp the scale of creation, poor "fictional" ability, misuse of prototypes, offended friends.
