Yang Dai and Wang Xiaobo have both complained about Zhang Ailing, so which side to stand on?

As I've written before, I like Zhang Ailing's novels, especially her satire of old-fashioned human relationships.

In "Love in the Fallen City", Fan Liuyuan said that spending money to marry a person who has no feelings for himself to get married, the so-called "marriage is long-term prostitution." The white tassel was furious. However, when she first went to be good with Fan Liuyuan, she did have a similar mind: she wanted to find a support to avoid her shitty family.

Only because of her family, a group of people seem to care about the progress of feelings, but in fact, they have their own calculations. He wanted to not affect the dignity of the family and sent her away. The mouth is full of doctrine, and the heart is all business.

She was unhappy or unhappy, and the family didn't care. The image of the family man's concern on the scene also said that the article could not withstand the three principles and five constants. The woman's calculations are exquisite, busy finding an in-laws for her daughter. The white tassel is like a commodity that needs to be sold urgently, but it cannot take up a good resource.

In "Mercy", Dun Feng and Mr. Mi are both remarried couples. What Dun Feng asked for was very practical, that is, to "return to the hands of reliable people." There is no love for each other, marriage is more like a tug-of-war. As a young wife of an old husband and a young wife, she can openly talk about her husband's life expectancy in front of her own family, and she can show her husband to her family as if she has won.

In "Red Roses and White Roses", Tong Zhenbao has a sense of dignity in seeking to be the master of the house all his life. "Be the master of that world yourself." Even lust is full of calculations.

In "Wait", a group of wives wait silently, small talk, parents short. Each other is insecure. In the half-truth and half-false narration without words, talk about whether the husband will find another person, talk about what to do if the hair is lost. In fact, each other is chanting what they want to say, and they don't really care about the lives of others.

In "Hong Luan Xi", the future sister-in-law goes shopping for the wedding, and the sister-in-law of the upstart temperament dislikes her family lineage, complains endlessly behind her back, and thinks that she will spend money. The bride and groom are counting on buying things so that they can order more from their old parents. In order to be decent, unhappy people in marriage have to maintain the scene, cooperate with the cold jokes of their husbands, dislike their own pretense, and hate onlookers. But it can only maintain decency, maintain a face of pretending to be happy, calculating, pondering, and performing.

She writes about human feelings, very transparent, very sharp.

Of course, there are people who don't like her.

For example, in Yang Dai's letter to Zhong Shuhe, there was such a paragraph:

I think you all look up to Zhang Ailing too highly, I have prejudice against her, my niece and Zhang are both students of St. Mary's Girls' School, my niece said that Zhang Ailing is going to be in the limelight, deliberately dressed strangely, and wants to attract people, but she looks very ugly, a face of "peanut rice" (youth beans), and classmates look down on her. To be fair, she's well-written. But the mood is humble. The women in her pen are all sexually hungry and thirsty, and the period of your life is different from mine, the days when you were not invaded by the Japanese, in me, the traitors are the enemy, and there is no tolerance for the traitors. The people in the "Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Circle" are not in our eyes. Xia Solstice (Zhi) Qing was very fond of Zhang Ailing, but he later told Qian Zhongshu that when he first saw Zhang Ailing in the United States, he was shocked, her behavior was unnatural, and her appearance was terrible. Now her people glorify her as beautiful as she thinks she is (as evidenced by the photos). I haven't seen her.

——The spit is quite fierce, but it is also straightforward, first of all, to make it clear: "I have a prejudice against her." It can also be regarded as spitting out brightly. Most of her complaints are talking about Zhang Ailing's personality and her own hearings. The attack was fierce, but the private letter was nothing.

The real evaluation of Zhang Ailing's text, only this sentence:

To be fair, she's well-written. But the mood is humble.

This sentence alone, I think there is no problem.

I think the benefit of Zhang Ailing is her narrative, her rich and beautiful imagery, and the precision of her white characters. Probably in these aspects, Mr. Yang Dai is also willing to say "good writing".

With Mr. Yang Dai and Mr. Qian Zhongshu's poisonous tongue of spitting on the madman in the group of books, Zhang Ailing can be praised as "good writing", which is already a very high evaluation.

As for the "humble mood"... It is said that most of the women in Zhang Ailing's pen lack independent spirit, and many of them are would-be aunts, probably good - even Bai Tassel is considered to have an independent personality, after all, she still relies on an independent posture to earn Fan Liuyuan a true feeling, but it is still economically dependent.

Wang Xiaobo also boasted to Zhang Ailing:

At that time, even Zhang Chunqiao wrote novels under a pseudonym, just in terms of art, it can be regarded as a mess, Zhang Ailing is indeed a little red in the evergreen bush.

Zhang Ailing's novel has a kind of extraordinary thing, which is that she has a deep understanding of women's lives. Zhang Ailing understands this life very thoroughly, and the novel is very authentic.

But Wang Xiaobo also said that he did not like the story of Zhang Ailing's novel:

But to put it in good conscience, I don't like it. I always feel that novels can write about pain, write despair, and cannot write about things that make people upset, for the simple reason that after reading it, they must be annoyed, and they must be annoyed even more when they are bored, and it is the biggest suffering that most Chinese.

and:

God knows what Zhang Ailing later wrote about. She took her pathology as a talent,...... People who have talents are not called artists, but they know that they cherish their talents to be called artists.

In fact, it is another way of saying:

"The writing is good", but "the style is not high." ”

In fact, Mr. Xia Zhiqing exaggerated Ailing, and never praised her for her large pattern, but for her excellent writing, rich imagery, and her natural sense of tragedy.

I think the contradiction here is this:

Even if Yang Dai and Wang Xiaobo do not like Zhang Ailing, they admit that she is well-written, and what they do not like is the world she describes.

But when I read Zhang Ailing's novel, I look back and think that Zhang Ailing's satire does not punish evil and persuade good, nor does she describe the idealized sublime world, she only describes human hypocrisy and utilitarianism. Mr. Xia Zhiqing agreed with her writing.

Therefore, Mr. Xia Zhiqing believes that "although Zhang Ailing writes a narrow subject matter, the writing is really good."

And Mr. Yang Dai is "although Zhang Ailing's writing is good, the pattern is really humble."

The focus is different.

What about us bystanders?

If you push heavy writing, you can choose Mr. Xia Zhiqing's side.

Those who push heavy themes can choose Yang Chen's side.

But there is actually another option:

It doesn't have to be either/or.

A few more words here.

Yang Dai wrote "Six Notes on Cadre School". What is Zhang Ailing's opinion?

Qiu Yanming, former editor-in-chief of Taiwan's United Literature, wrote:

(To Zhang Ailing) sent the book "Six Records of The Cadre School", she read it and wrote in the letter:

"The recent 'Six Notes' of Yang Dai is really good, so diluted and humorous, and there is a sense of strangeness and strangeness."

It was also good.

But not everyone likes Mr. Yang Dai.

Now, Qian Yang and his wife are naturally legendary. But on that day, not everyone praised Qian Zhongshu and Mr. Yang Dai.

In Zong Pu's predecessor "Records of Eastern Tibet", there is a young professor couple who have returned from staying in the west, named You Jiaren and Yao Qiuer. They live in "Mean Alley" and are known for their meanness, indifference and rumor-mongering.

"Speaking with some accents, listening carefully is Tianjin flavor, two or three sentences will add an English character, the pronunciation is particularly clear, it seems to be some gritted teeth, from time to time to each other to say a few words of English."

Yao Qiuer said: "Jia Ren speaks English in Britain, and the British cannot hear that they are foreigners. At one of the speeches, there were a lot of people, and the windows were all broken. ”

Yu Jiaren said: "The insider's article was published in the Times, and there were people on the train who read it. This mutual praise between the two has become everyday.

I only feel that I am extremely intelligent, above the mortals, and I can't help but flutter, without considering the harm to others. If the other party does not get the information, it is necessary to try to pass it on. Shooting a hunt must hit a living creature to be painful, but talking behind closed doors will make it much less interesting.

Zong Pu's predecessors were talking about which couple, everyone could guess.

No, I don't have any opinions on Qian Yang and the two, I just want to use this example to illustrate:

The cattle people complain to each other, do not hinder them from being very cattle, all have merit.

Mr. Lu Xun has ridiculed Lin Yutang, Liang Shiqiu and Gu Jiegang, but the latter three also have their own great deeds.

Bing Xin also ridiculed Lin Huiyin, Liu Wendian still looked down on Shen Congwen, but it did not prevent me from seeing that they all had their own great places.

Brahms and Wagner have sided with each other all their lives, and Mendelssohn doesn't like Berlioz, but I think they both have good tunes.

Creators with opinions will most likely have their own persistence, so it is natural that they are not accustomed to the opposite.

But the reader doesn't necessarily have to go to the side.

Here's a fact that's often overlooked:

A person's favorite author, including his favorite team singer directing movie music with the clothes worn by the mobile phone to play the game, all of which can not define him, just what he consumes.

So if he is stronger or weaker than other authors, other teams, other singers, other directors, other movies, other music, other mobile phones, other clothes, other games, does not mean that he is stronger or weaker than other guys.

Everyone is just a consumer. Neither mom and dad nor children, but consumers.

Readers are also just consumers.

Too real to grit your teeth, but it will look a little funny... This truth, of course, does not apply only to these occasions.

Hemingway and Faulkner still don't look at each other, the former is suspicious of the latter, the latter is suspicious of the former- but Márquez likes both of their novels at the same time.

I think that attitude is good.

If you read a book with less fan circle thinking, choose its good people and follow it, it is probably easier to be happy?
