China on the mother river drinks the water of the Yellow River together, and does not forget to divert water

■ Reporter Bi Xiaotian

Editor's note: On October 16, 2021, the "China on the Mother River" network theme event press corps came to Gansu Bubeigou Village to interview this small mountain village that was once extremely water-scarce. In 2013, General Secretary Xi Jinping came here to investigate. In the past 8 years, water has been introduced, roads have been built, and new rural areas have been built. Behind the earth-shaking changes in Buqigou Village, there is a heavy concern, investment and dedication.

The bus arrives at its destination slowly, the slope of the cement road is extremely large, and if you go up, there is a risk of slipping if you are not careful. This interview with Bu weigou village was not very smooth.

A half-meter-deep trench had been dug next to the cement road, a thick black pipe was buried in the dirt, and several workers were busy next to the downwell.

These water pipes are not difficult to lay in the city underground, and it is not easy to erect them here. In Dongxiang County, where Buzigou Village is located, the terrain is umbrella-shaped, and the characteristics of the mountain ditch are so deep that it is surrounded by water, but there is no water available in the village. On the one hand, the villagers have difficulty in using water; on the other hand, the cost of overcoming the steep terrain and setting up pipes to bring water is too high. Most of the memories of the villagers in Buzigou about poverty are related to water scarcity.

Time back to the 1980s and 1990s.

A villager got up early in the morning, he took up the washbasin, stroked his face with water, and could clearly feel the mud in the water------ which was left over from washing the dishes last night. After washing the face, the water cannot be poured out, but must be set aside and stored for the cattle and sheep to drink.

△ In the past, villagers used water diversion belts to collect rainwater into water cellars, and the material of the water diversion belts has also undergone a change from sackcloth to canvas. The picture shows the use of water to show tourists, which has been eliminated. Bi Xiaotian

He stepped over the threshold and walked straight to the water cellar in the courtyard. Rainwater is as expensive as oil, and whenever it rains, every household ties sackcloth to the eaves to form a water diversion belt, which diverts rainwater into the water cellar for people and livestock to drink. The man glanced at the water cellar, where there was little rain left.

Today's task is only one: to drive the donkey and drive the water back to a spring 20 kilometers away. Although there were few strong laborers in the family, although there was still a lot of work to be done at home and in the field, there was no other way. Without water, everything was hugh.

Saying that it is a spring is somewhat exaggerated, it is just a small puddle in the ravine. The villager pressed the tin bucket into the water, filled it up, and then slowly lifted it, and poured it into the plastic bucket next to it. After repeating this several times, he finally filled all the containers he had brought with him, and he slowly got up and hung two tin buckets on the wooden sticks on the donkey's back, feeling a sense of accomplishment.

The water here is turbid and not tasty, and the spring water with too high fluoride content makes the whole village grow a mouthful of fluorosis teeth. The acid and numbness in his mouth did not affect his good mood, and this time the water returned from the drive could be used by the whole family for several days. After all, water is life.

On the way back, stepping on the dusty dirt road, the villager suddenly remembered that the dolls in the family had reached the age of school, and he planned to raise a few more sheep to make up for the children's tuition, and the family could be more generous. Suddenly, he glanced at the bucket next to him, sighed, and said in his heart: Forget it.

This is a typical microcosm of the villagers in Buqigou Village in the last century, and a set of data can explain the situation very well: the lowest altitude here is only more than 1600 meters, and the highest altitude can reach more than 2600 meters; the average annual precipitation is only 290 mm, but the evaporation is as high as 1490 mm; an acre of wheat in ordinary mountainous areas can produce more than 1000 catties per year, but here it is only more than 300 catties.

Looking forward to it, looking forward to it, history has finally turned a new page! This year is 2021, and it has been 8 years since General Secretary Xi Jinping last inspected Bubeigou Village. In the past 8 years, water has been introduced, roads have been built, and new rural areas have been built. The Yellow River flows through the land of Longyuan, and this small village in Gansu Province finally does not have to worry about drinking water.

On February 28, 2013, the construction of the safe drinking water project in Bulengou Village began, and in just four months, Bulingou Village completed the project of drinking water into households, buried 15 kilometers of water pipes, and built seven reservoirs.

"At present, the water supply guarantee rate in Dongxiang County is 98%, and the water supply guarantee standard for the national poverty alleviation is 87%, which is more than ten percentage points higher." Zhang Yiqing, secretary of the party branch of Buxigou Village, said proudly.

He still can't forget the scene when the water came: a large group of villagers quietly gathered around the faucet, unscrewed the faucet, the clear tap water gushed down, the villagers were excited, boiling, they took a bunch of water with their hands, buried their faces, and swallowed this hard-won Ganlin.

In the past, everyone ate mainly potatoes and wheat, and fruits and vegetables were scarce. Now the water is coming, and every household has planted vegetables such as peppers and radishes at their doors. With water, there is confidence, and the villagers of Buzigou dare to expand the scale of sheep raising: in the past, the main source of income was a few sheep raised in scattered, but now there are 5 large sheep farmers and 12 sheep farmers.

The Yellow River flows through nine provinces and regions, and she is silent and rushing, silently nourishing countless children. The Chinese people along the Mother River drink the same Yellow River water.

90% of kaifeng's domestic water and industrial production water are taken from the Yellow River. The Heigangkou Yellow River Observation Deck here silently witnesses the years of the Yellow River. The surrounding residents come here to rest, play, and enjoy the beauty of the sunset on the Long River.

At the Liujiaxia Reservoir in Linxia Hui Autonomous Prefecture, under the cover of the red mountains and white soil in the distance, the clear water of the Yellow River flows westward, and the banks are dotted with green trees, cruise ships and several homes. Residents here rely on this reservoir for drinking water and irrigation, and some people say: "The Liujiaxia Reservoir stores one cubic meter of fresh water for everyone in the world." ”

Yinchuan, Ningxia is a city that guards the Yellow River and drinks from the shortage of water. Since 2010, Yinchuan has been facing a persistent summer water shortage. "In the past, when I washed and cooked in the morning, the water flow would become very small, and there were occasional cases of running out of water, which felt like I was grabbing water." Resident Zhao Shuzhen has a deep understanding. The implementation of the urban and rural western water supply project in the Yinchuan metropolitan area has solved this problem. The water of the Yellow River is taken from the Jinshawan Pumping Station in Qingtongxia, transported through the Xixia Canal to Yinchuan, and then continuously sent to thousands of households through the processes of coagulation, precipitation, and filtration. After the completion of the project, all 2.65 million residents in the three districts and two counties of Yinchuan City drank the water of the Yellow River.

Looking back at Bujigou Village, the villagers have already moved into their new homes, and the former village site has been transformed into a red tourist destination. Step into the middle of the yard, unscrew the tap, and the clear tap water flows down. Next to the tap, the villagers spontaneously wrote two lines of red and big characters: "Don't forget the general secretary of the draft, always grateful to the Communist Party."
