A: Based on the principle of residents' voluntariness, a long-term and stable service relationship is established through the signing of service agreements between family doctors (teams) and residents, and health consultation, basic medical care and basic public health services are provided to the contracted residents.
Q: Who are the contracted clients of my GP?
Answer: The family doctor team takes permanent residents (referring to household registration and non-household registration residents who have lived for more than half a year) as the service target, and gives priority to covering the elderly aged 65 and above, pregnant women, children aged 0-6, the disabled, people lifted out of poverty, special family members for family planning, as well as patients with hypertension, diabetes, tuberculosis, severe mental disorders and other key groups.
Q: How do I sign up for a family doctor?
Answer: Residents in the jurisdiction can bring their ID cards or medical insurance cards to the community health service center (or township health center) or community health service station (or village clinic) in their place of residence to sign a contract.
Q: What services are available to a contracted family doctor?
A: By signing up with a family doctor, you have an additional health guardian who can provide you with the following free services:
(1) Basic medical services;
(2) basic public health services;
(3) health education and consulting services;
(4) Priority outpatient appointments and referral services;
(5) Traditional Chinese medicine services and other services agreed with family doctors.
Q: Is my GP a private doctor?
A: No, it is not. The family doctor system is a new doctor-patient relationship that provides basic medical and public health services in accordance with relevant national policies, rather than a private doctor who mainly provides home visits and personalized services.
