In traditional Chinese culture, people regard the magpie as an auspicious bird, and it is often combined with plum branches, which means "happy eyebrows", representing the good wish of happy events. The teachers of the art group of the experimental primary school asked the students to observe the ecology and living habits of magpies, and guided them to learn how to use various painting materials to depict the magpies and other natural elements they observed through a combination of theory and practice.

01Environmental awareness and ecological protection

By observing and depicting the natural scene of birds singing and flowers, they can feel the beauty of nature and cultivate their awareness of protecting the environment, caring for birds and maintaining ecological balance.

02Explore the expressive techniques of black and white line drawing and watercolor

Practice black and white line drawing, learn and master different techniques of watercolor, such as color overlay, blending, detail depiction, etc., to show the layering between objects to improve their painting skills.

03 Picture composition and layout ability

Effectively lay out and compose the picture around the theme, reasonably arrange elements such as branches, flowers and magpies, so that the picture is both beautiful and balanced, and understand the aesthetic principle of combining density and blank space.

To draw a magpie, the main structure is to grasp the characteristics of its tail length, followed by the natural connection between the head and neck and the body. The magpie is a symbol of "good luck" and is not suitable for showing ferocity or aggressiveness.

In the spring sun, magpies jump happily on the branches and chirp incessantly, as if expressing their yearning for a better life. The expectations and hopes of magpies have also infected us, and we believe that as long as we have a good heart and work hard, we can usher in our own spring.
