In order to accelerate the integration of Lianjiang, empower the development of the marine industry, stimulate the vitality of the county's economic development, and help Lianjiang build the brand name card of the "World Fishing Capital", on December 30, the 2023WUPENiCity "World Fishing Capital" Food Competition and the first Lianjiang Fuyu Festival opened in Kuilongfang District, Lianjiang County.
The three-day event, with the theme of "Future City, World Fishing Capital", connected compatriots on both sides of the strait and international creative designers, and launched special activities such as the Star Chef Competition and the Lianma Township Banquet. The food competition invited six local chefs and six international creative officers to form teams to carry out innovative cooperation in Fujian cuisine around "locality, cosmopolitanism and creativity", including the collision of Chinese and Western cooking methods, cross-strait exchanges, and cross-border dialogues on city, design and cuisine. The competition is planned by WUPENiCity, a world planning and education organization, and a number of academician-level experts are invited to serve as judges, using food as a medium to promote multi-party integration, stimulate the vitality of the city, build a city brand of "World Fishing Capital" for Lianjiang County, impact the title of "World Food Capital", and create an international image of "Fuzhou on the Sea" bridgehead.

On the day of the event, chefs from 23 towns and villages in Lianjiang County, including Matsu Township, jointly performed and made a total of 83 kinds of 432 exquisite dishes cooked with local ingredients in Lianma on the 100-meter-long street.
