For every mother, seeing every growth of her baby will surprise us. But there are always some endless problems on the baby's growth path, which make us feel confused. A few years ago, I also faced some parenting problems: my child became more and more difficult to discipline after the age of two and a half, such as he liked to throw things around, and he was happy to see me angry; everything had to follow his own "rules", and he lost his temper if he didn't go well. 2.5-6 years old is a critical period for children's development, so I quit my job in order to take the baby. In order to solve these problems for children, I have searched for a lot of parenting knowledge on the Internet, but I found that I could not help me in practice, and at that time I felt that I was a failure, not only did I have no job, but also did not know how to effectively solve the child's problems, and only scolded the child. What can I do after this?
Fortunately, when I was anxious about how to educate my children, I met a trainer at the AMS Montessori Teacher Training Center (WMEC) with the help of friends, and now I have not only raised my children to be independent and sensible, but also have my own hobbies, and I myself have obtained an AMS 2.5-6 year old international Montessori certificate at WMEC. How do I raise my child through the Montessori philosophy?
Many years ago, when I was anxious about how to educate my children, with the help of friends, I had the privilege of meeting a trainer at WMEC, who used the Montessori educational concept to help me solve a lot of parenting problems, for example, my child always likes to deliberately throw things to play, and I have to pick them up after throwing, and then he throws them again. I think the child deliberately misbehaved, so I blindly reprimanded him. But the teacher told me that I shouldn't blindly stop my children from throwing things. Finding this phenomenon and causing confusion shows that I am a sensitive mother, and the first thing we need to consider is that children must not be 'messing' or "destroying the environment", so why do they have such actions and enjoy it? After saying this, Ms. Wang took me to the classroom of WMEC and asked me to see what kind of environment they prepared for their children.
Teacher Wang said: Picking up the items that you can hold and throwing them out is the natural need and process of children's motor development. Maybe it's unconscious at first, but the child begins to realize that he can pick up something and throw it out, and what makes him happy is not that he has destroyed something, but that he finds that he has developed a new "skill". From Montessori's point of view, his eye coordination, grasping ability, and throwing ability have made new progress, and the child has been satisfied in the process of growing up looking for and expanding his influence on the environment. If the adult picks it up repeatedly, the child is happy that he can affect the adult — he feels his strength growing. So the simple stop doesn't solve the problem, what we need to do is take him to a safe environment where he can practice "throwing", give him items that he can throw and play, and play similar games with him. At the same time, he told him that he could not pick up things in the room and do this action, because it would destroy the objects and the room environment, and even someone might be injured.
Teacher Wang's words made my mind clear: I must first know what the child is doing and why he behaves like this, and then think about how to guide, including support and prompts. What a respect for children! What a blessing it would be if the child had been guided so gently and rationally! Think about some of my previous methods, which can be described as "rough"! At that time, I was deeply attracted to the Montessori theory of education, which was highly consistent with the educational philosophy I pursued. At that time, I thought it was good for me to be a Montessori teacher, and if I became a Montessori trainer, I could help more people learn Montessori education like Mr. Wang of WMEC, which benefited many families or children, which was also my interest. In addition, I also intend to give my children a Montessori education, so it is necessary for me to know more about Montessori teaching ideas. So, after experiencing all kinds of parenting troubles and experiences, I resolutely stepped into the door of WMEC and walked on the road of Montessori.
My experience joining the WMEC Trainer Program
The reason why WMEC was finally chosen is because WMEC is authorized by the American Montessori Association (AMS) and certified by the United States Montessori Teacher Education Accreditation Council (MACTE), and there are not many Montessori training institutions with such qualifications in China. Secondly, WMEC's class types are very rich, which can be selected by different groups of people according to their own conditions or time. I chose the AMS International Montessori program for ages 2.5-6, which consists of montessori professional theoretical learning and practical learning, including 308 hours of theoretical study and 9 consecutive months (540 hours) of internship. Once in class, my Montessori career really began. Here I met many kindergarten teachers and parents from all over the world, and it was a pleasure to learn and communicate with them. We are all people who truly love children, and I think an educator is the first to satisfy that before he can talk about respect for the industry.
After a year of study, all the students in our class passed the exam and successfully obtained the AMS International Montessori Certificate. Maybe this makes people feel that the AMS exam is a very easy thing, but it is not that the learning content itself is simple, but because the WMEC tutors are very responsible, they make the exam simple. For example, the usual visit assessment during the internship is three times, each of which requires a lot of money, resources and effort, but WMEC tutors conducted four in-class visit assessments for us. For example, they will help us to divide some difficult problems into several steps, let us slowly accumulate experience, help us to succeed little by little, such as: when to turn in the daily life manual, when to hand in the paper, when to complete the study and internship... At every step, there is not only the guidance of the teachers, but also our full efforts. Our mentor is a foreign teacher, kind, happy to help us and willing to share his experience with us.
The metamorphosis that WMEC has brought to me?
I am currently based at WMEC, and the development of WMEC is also very suitable for my career plans. After meeting WMEC, I jumped out of stay-at-home mom and got a qualitative leap that gave my life more meaning. Now I can get a good balance between working life and taking care of children. Thanks to WMEC, I realized that there are many possibilities for us women, even after becoming a mother.
