If we say that among the many major events in modern history over the past 180 years, which are extremely topical and enduring, "May Fourth" is definitely listed. This is of irreplaceable and decisive significance in China's history, politics, culture and even the process of civilization.

May Fourth was like a kaleidoscope, giving researchers an endless perspective on the horizon, as was the case with the new press at the time. The Canadian scholar Harold Inis, in his treatise Empire and Communication, argues that "the subject of communication can give people many possible enlightenments, and I have always had the impression that in the organization and implementation of politics, communication occupies a key seat; in the countries of the past and Western civilization, communication also occupies a key seat." ”

The dissemination and sharing of information, the mobilization and alliance of the public, is undoubtedly a basic way for human society to survive and develop. Around 1915, the role of the press as a daily medium of communication became increasingly apparent. If we return to the historical scene of "May Fourth", we suddenly feel that the situation at that time is that the press and the movement are closely related, and it is simply the newspaper and periodical under the drumming of "May Fourth" and "May Fourth" in the rendering of newspapers and periodicals.

The rise of "New Youth" actually has a successive and competitive relationship with the "Youth Progress" publications promoted in Shanghai, and this kind of karma seems to have not been paid much attention to in the past. The May Fourth New Culture Movement was first launched in the big cities of Beijing and Shanghai, but it does not mean that other regions of the country are not important. Chen Wangdao, the translator of the Communist Manifesto, once recalled that during the May Fourth period, "higher education institutions were the most active in Peking University, and in secondary schools, they were considered to be the First Normal School in Hunan and the First Normal School in Hangzhou." It can be seen that at that time, the "localized May Fourth Movement" had blossomed in the national stage, and the national scale and influence of the "May Fourth" can be seen from this. Choosing the cases of the monthly magazine "Zhejiang New Wave" and the Zhejiang Provincial First Normal School, it is not difficult to understand the surging scene of the whole country at that time. At the same time, the New Culture Movement has spawned a number of very high-quality publications, and supplements have gradually risen from the fringes to become the main force, which can be seen from the "Morning News Supplement" and "Beijing News Supplement" in Beijing, which are known as the "four major supplements of the Republic of China", and the "Enlightenment" and "Xuelan" in Shanghai.

At present, we have been fully immersed in the era of new media or all-media, and the dissemination, sharing, screening and use of information have become daily "homework". In contrast, at that time, it seemed that the mirror value of "May Fourth" was once again highlighted.

The four articles published in this issue are all related to literary geography. "Wuzhong Famous Mountains in Yuan Hongdao's Writing" combs through the famous mountains of Wuzhong that Yuan Hongdao visited during his tenure as the county commander of Wu County, forming a tour map of the famous mountains in Wuzhong, and at the same time, through the interpretation of Yuan Hongdao's excursion essay, his sightseeing mood is integrated into the mountain stone garden pavilion in Wuzhong, and the scenery becomes more flexible and lovely. "Because the In-depth Travel of Su's Father and Son" is centered on the "Southbound Pre-Collection" of Su Xun, Su Shi and Su Rui's father and son, which completely reproduces the process of Su Shi's family's boat trip, many of which are still our tourism punching places today, and the travels and inscriptions of Su's father and son have added more moving charm to these historical sites.
