Intel announced its first quarter 2022 earnings report this morning, with total revenue of $18.4 billion, down 7% year-over-year, and net profit of $8.1 billion, up 141% year-on-year.

At the earnings meeting, Intel CEO Pat Kissinger said that the first quarter of 2022 is a strong start, Intel continues to strengthen its execution on the road to long-term growth, is accelerating forward, there is still a lot of work to be done, and it is full of confidence in the way forward.

Kissinger stressed that the "4 years and 5 generations process" is advancing as planned and has made great progress, some even ahead of schedule.

Intel 7 process of Alder Lake 12 generation Core mass production is smooth, is rolling out, shipments of more than 15 million, Raptor Lake next generation Core has been sampled, Sapphire Rapids next generation Xeon has shipped the first model to some customers;

Intel 4 process meteor Lake (future Core) has successfully launched Windows, Chrome, Linux;

This year, Intel will complete the pre-production wafer of Sierra Forest (Future Xeon) of the Intel 3 process, complete the IP test wafer of the Intel 20A process, and complete the chip test of the foundry customer of the Intel 18A process and the preliminary IP Shuttle.

It is worth mentioning that under the new IDM 2.0 strategy, Intel has not only made rapid progress in its own process technology, but also made a historic breakthrough in external OEM.

Intel's Foundry Services (IFS) Division disclosed its business progress for the first time in a new, independent structure, with quarterly revenue of a record $283 million, up 175% year-over-year, and operating performance reaching $1 billion for the first time.

This year, Intel FOUNDC services will have more than 30 test chips, and it is expected to complete the first customer test chip based on Intel 3 and Intel 18A processes in the second half of the year.

At present, Intel FOUNDC services is working well with 5 target customers, and more disclosure will be made later this year.

In terms of discrete graphics cards that everyone is very concerned about, Intel Accelerated Computing and Graphics Division (AXG) officially shipped Ruixuan A series products, and the first customers include Acer, Asus, Dell, HP, Lenovo, Samsung, etc., and the revenue of the business unit is expected to exceed $1 billion this year.

Flagship Ponte Vecchio GPUs for high-performance computing and artificial intelligence have also begun shipping to customers, paired with the next-generation Xeon Saphire Rapids for two Aurora supercomputers with exascale floating-point operations per second at Argonne National Laboratories.

In addition, Arctic Sound, a common data center GPU designed for multimedia, graphics processing, and AI inference, will be released in the second half of this year.
