Recently, at the Beijing Auto Show, Guoxin Technology launched a domestic airbag controller chip set for the first time. It is reported that the control chip has been installed in a number of domestic mainstream automobile manufacturers with more than 2 million units.

Note the key word here: domestic debut.

Let's first talk about how this set of chips works. The solution launched by Guoxin Technology includes an MCU (that is, a microcontroller) called CCFC2012BC, plus an ignition driver chip CCL1600B, and an accelerometer sensor chip CMA2100B.

These three brothers formed a team, with a clear division of labor and tacit cooperation.

When the car unfortunately encounters an emergency such as a collision, the accelerometer immediately perceives it, and it is like a sensitive sentinel, which quickly transmits the signal to the controller through the information superhighway of the bus. After receiving the signal, the controller quickly and accurately calculates and makes a judgment on whether the airbag is really needed to be activated. As soon as the situation is confirmed, it immediately gives instructions to the ignition driver chip. The driver chip received the order, and without saying a word, released the current, ignited the chemicals in the airbag, and with a "bang", the airbag instantly inflated to protect the safety of passengers.

The whole process, as fast as lightning, can be completed in tens of milliseconds, and must be accurate every time, which must require high quality and high stability of the chip.

Why didn't we make such an important thing ourselves?

Hey, this question is really a bit heart-wrenching.

Although our domestic manufacturers are the double champions of automobile production and ownership, the key parts of airbag controllers, such as electronic ignition drive chips and acceleration sensor chips, have been firmly controlled by foreign brands for a long time because of their high technical thresholds, expensive research and development costs, and strict reliability requirements. International predators such as Bosch and STMicroelectronics have almost carved up the market.

Especially Bosch, it accounts for 40% of the airbag ignition chip market, and it is also the protagonist of several giants such as ST and NXP in the field of sensor chips. STMicroelectronics and NXP were the only two companies that provided a complete set of solutions, and at that time, it was difficult for domestic companies to intervene.

But the breakthrough of Guoxin Technology this time is of great significance.

Not only has this set of chips been independently developed, but it has also been applied in many domestic leading OEMs, with an installed capacity of more than 2 million units, and more airbag controllers are using their chips for mass production.

Therefore, this is not only a technological breakthrough, but also our automotive electronic chips are also breaking the foreign monopoly, filling the domestic gap, so that the "neck" of China's automotive electronics is no longer so easy to be stuck.
