On the evening of April 20, Lexus' new electric model, the Lexus RZ, ushered in the world's premiere. The car is positioned as a pure electric compact SUV, built on the e-TNGA architecture. Its bold exterior shape and unique shaped steering wheel design are impressive.
In terms of appearance, the Lexus RZ adopts the design elements of the early LF-Z Electrified concept car as a whole, and the family-based spindle grille design is closed, which is closer to the modeling style of the electric model. The new car is available in two colors, with the front grille, front hatch and roof in the same color, and distinguishing it from the main color of the body.
The lexus RZ body line presents a style similar to a coupe SUV, and the sharp and complex waistline design looks sporty. In terms of body size, the new car has a length, width and height of 4805/1895/1635mm, and a wheelbase of 2850mm. The rear of the vehicle uses the popular through-type taillights, which have a good visual effect when lit at night, and it is also equipped with a trunk ducktail spoiler.
In terms of interior, the interior of the new car retains the inherent style of Lexus while adding a lot of radical designs that conform to electrification elements. The overall style continues the "reins" concept from the LF-30 concept car, and the most striking thing is the unconventional steering wheel on board. The central control as a whole adopts the design of the surround driver, and the center is the maximum 14-inch central control screen and full LCD instrument, which supports mobile phone mapping/interconnection and OTA functions.
In addition, the Lexus RZ is equipped with a new Steel by Wire variable-ratio electronic steering-by-wire system, and the Lexus Driving Signature will bring a feel to the driver. The uniquely shaped steering wheel has a steering angle of about 150° plus or minus, and when the intelligent lane tracking system LTA is activated, it can control the wheels according to driving intent, providing gentle steering and smooth vehicle dynamics.
In terms of power, it is expected that the Lexus RZ will use a powertrain similar to the previously released Toyota bZ4X, equipped with a front and rear dual motor drive system, with a maximum power of 150 kilowatts for the front motor and a maximum power of 80 kilowatts for the rear motor. In addition, the car is equipped with a DIRECT4 electronic dynamic four-wheel drive system, which can accurately control the distribution of front and rear wheel drive forces based on the information collected by the vehicle's wheel speed, acceleration pedal and steering angle sensors.
