Recently, "Inheritance and Development - Laizhi Steel Ink Art Exhibition" was unveiled at the National Academy of Painting of China, and more than 100 classic works of steel were exhibited, presenting the audience with a natural ink world with ink accumulation. This is also a concentrated display of laizhigang's artistic creation achievements for more than 40 years.

Lai Zhigang is a painter from the grassroots, when he was a child, his family was poor, he went to school and was naughty, but he was obsessed with painting, and gave most of his life to painting. He entered the Central Academy of Fine Arts in 2001 and entered the Li Xiaoke Art Studio in 2005 to deeply feel and learn the spirit and thought of "Li Jia Shanshui".

In Lai Zhigang's view, sketching is a good medicine to solve and break through the conceptualization, homogenization and assimilation of Chinese painting. Over the decades, he has traveled a lot in his sketches, and "smoke clouds" have become an important symbolic element in his artistic creation.

"In my creation, I have always pursued the poetry of the natural production of the picture and the fairy spirit of the paper.

In terms of pen and ink language, I chose the path of pure ink painting in China, and my pictures have extremely transparent black, rich gray, and ethereal white. I think such pure colors are more in line with my character, or in line with my simple aesthetic pursuit of simplicity.

In addition, I have been trying to prove through my own artistic practice that Chinese ink expression is not weaker than oil painting. ------------------

In the past 40 years, Lai Zhigang has deeply studied the traditional ink accumulation painting method, inherited the strengths of Gong Xian, Huang Binhong, Li Keyan and other predecessors of the ink accumulation landscape masters, familiarized himself with the laws of the ink accumulation language, developed in inheritance, innovated in sketching, and improved in pondering, and gradually formed a style of coming. In his works, the magnificent, empty landscapes and ethereal fluttering and idle smoke clouds show the confident spirit of the times and rich spiritual connotations.

The works on display are diverse in scale, jump in style, and beautiful in artistic conception, which fully demonstrates Laizhigang's artistic talent for painting. His works such as "Art Road", "Great Tide", "Huangshan Smoke And Clouds" and other oversized and imposing, in the expression of mountains and stones, clouds, water and other aspects of the Southern Song Dynasty Li Tang's fierce road, open and close, full of majestic and strong momentum.

At the same time, a number of his hand-scrolled works, such as "Fuchun Mountain Residence Map", "The Great River Goes East", "Jiang Xue", etc., through the delicate ink accumulation brushwork, the natural landscapes such as heaven, earth, water, fog and other natural landscapes are infiltrated and expressed, so that the picture presents a vibrant, moist and subtle texture.
