The well-known research institution TrendForce Jibang Consulting analyzed in the latest research report that lithium iron phosphate batteries rely on cost-effective advantages, with the continuous advancement of technology, it is estimated that by 2024, the installed capacity of the global power battery market will account for more than 60%.
The research report further pointed out that in China, the world's largest electric vehicle market, the power battery pattern has reversed in 2021, and lithium iron phosphate batteries have officially surpassed ternary batteries with 52% of the installed capacity. In the first quarter of this year, this figure reached 58%.
Although in the global market, the overall proportion of ternary lithium batteries last year is still as high as 60%, but this situation is expected to reverse in the next two years. Another background that cannot be ignored is that the expansion scale and speed of the global energy cathode material project in the past two years are far more than that of ternary lithium batteries, and the growth rate of the two is completely unequal.
It is understood that BYD's current main blade battery is also a form of lithium iron phosphate battery.
