The reason for the number portability is very simple, the user is not satisfied with the existing operator's package service, signal coverage, etc., and the mobile phone number is bound to too many accounts, it is difficult to change in a short period of time, hoping to change the operator without changing the number, and then strongly requires the opening of the number portability function. On November 27, 2019, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology held a launching ceremony for the number portability network, announcing that the portability service was officially provided nationwide.
In the early stage of the number portability business, the biggest resistance encountered by users should be the layers of obstruction from the operator, some netizens said that before the transfer will encounter a number of "phone retention", preferential policies or bundled services, and some business halls will also drag time, the network transfer experience is not good. However, with the vigorous rectification of relevant departments, the number portability business can now be completed in only one hour.
At the same time, the network can also change the place of ownership, which is also the appeal of many small partners, but unfortunately, the current number portability can only be a simple conversion operator. Xiao Lei believes that the replacement of the place of attribution may be like the number portability network, the call is loud enough, and the operator should also open.
Having said that, in the context of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology's vigorous promotion of speeding up and reducing fees, the gap between the three domestic operators, whether it is package content or tariffs, has gradually narrowed, and each operator is actively laying out the construction of 5G base stations, and VoNR technology is gradually commercialized, and there is almost no poor signal coverage at present. As the service quality of various operators increases, the growth rate of the number of number porters may slow down.
At the press conference, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology also mentioned the problem of ageing, Luo Junjie said that the first batch of 325 websites and apps have completed the ageing transformation, providing a good assistance for the elderly to use intelligent technology. Under the constraints of relevant departments, the service quality of operators and Internet companies has indeed made great progress, providing more convenience for consumers' lives.
In Xiao Lei's view, operators are constantly competing for customer resources, the boom of number portability may continue for a long time, consumers' pursuit of low-cost packages will not change, in the case of similar service quality, the lower the price, the greater the attractiveness. In addition, there are more and more news of the official release of the number of the fourth operator, and the competition between operators is likely to intensify.
