Recently, GAC Honda and GAC Acura issued a notice on social media, implying that from 2023, GAC Honda will no longer produce and sell GAC Acura brand models, and GAC Honda will continue to provide services for GAC Acura owners and always protect the rights and interests of car owners. At the same time, it means that from 2023, Acura, a high-end brand of Honda Automobile, will officially withdraw from the Chinese market.
Honda recently announced a summary of its automotive electrification business briefing, as well as two new electric sports cars. The vehicle in the trailer image remains confidential, and the vehicle on the right looks like the successor to the current Honda NSX (Acura NSX). As we all know, this generation of NSX is about to be discontinued and retired, but since last year there have been rumors that it will return as an all-electric model.
The only mystery now is the one on the left, which appears to be a luxury station wagon. Honda said the two electric sports cars will be flagship models that will be launched worldwide. Honda also shared some insights into its updated electric vehicle program, particularly the launch of electric vehicles in three major markets: North America, China and Japan.
In North America, Honda will launch two medium- and large-sized EVs currently under joint development with General Motors in 2024 – the all-new Honda Prologue SUV and a new EV SUV for Acura. In China, Honda will launch a total of 10 new EV models by 2027. For the Japanese domestic market, Honda plans to launch a small commercial EV model by 2024, as well as a regular small EV and EV SUV.
Overall, Honda plans to launch 30 EV models worldwide by 2030, with a production target of more than 2 million per year. All-solid-state batteries are also currently under development.
