FAW Jiefang sold 16,900 new vehicles in March, down 65.05% y/y

Jiwei Network News (Text/Lin Xueying) On April 11, FAW Jiefang released a March production and sales express report, saying that the total sales volume in March was 16,876 vehicles, down 65.05% year-on-year. Among them, heavy trucks sold 12,057 units in March, a cumulative decrease of 67.20% year-on-year, and medium-sized trucks sold 2,465 units in March, an increase of 72.82% year-on-year.

In addition, for the current layout and technical advantages of hydrogen energy commercial vehicles, FAW Jiefang said that according to national and local policies, market demand, infrastructure construction and typical application scenarios, the company has simultaneously started the development of pure electricity, hybrid and gas-fired power three technical route products. FAW Jiefang will strive to build an exclusive base for fuel cell vehicles and systems featuring a zero-carbon plant and a hydrogen energy industry cluster. At the same time, FAW Jiefang has in-depth cooperation with domestic mainstream gas-fired power enterprises to master the development technology and production process capabilities of fuel cell engine systems. Establish a strategic cooperative relationship with Foshan Xianhu Laboratory to develop key fuel cell technologies. Relying on FAW Jiefang Engine Division, we will carry out stack assembly, bipolar plate preparation and membrane electrode integration. Cooperate with universities and scientific research units to complete the cooperative development and customized production of catalyst materials.

It is reported that FAW Jiefang has laid out five major vehicle product platforms in terms of new energy products, including heavy, medium, light, micro and passenger, and three technical routes of pure electric, hybrid and fuel cells, accelerated the development of new energy business, strengthened organizational functions, established a new energy division, and pulled the company's various business systems to complete the new energy research, production, supply and marketing business to form a joint force.

In terms of R&D investment, FAW Jiefang said that for the core assembly resources, it has completed the development of motors, electric drives, fuel cell products, etc., and the corresponding vehicle products are expected to be launched in 2022; the planning of new energy exclusive vehicle products is completed, and the technology research and development capabilities are gradually improved through school-enterprise alliances, and forward-looking technical reserves are fully utilized by scientific research institutes and industry institutions.
