In the 35 years of dealing with diesel engines, Lu Xindi's achievements are obvious to all, and he is jokingly called the "nemesis" of diesel engine failure by industry insiders. He has overcome the world's technical problems of diesel engine performance debugging without unified standards, so that China has independent intellectual property rights of diesel engine debugging technology, filling the domestic gap. In years of practical exploration, he has also solved key problems in the industry such as "leakage diesel fault in a single pump" and "diesel engine respirator injection oil".

The reason why Lu Xindi can become an authority and benchmark in the field of diesel engine debugging technology, according to his own words, is because he has the patience of "being friends with time", "can withstand loneliness, can sit on the cold bench". From "layman" to "technologist"

Lu Xindi's association with diesel engines dates back 38 years. In 1984, after the 17-year-old Lu Xindi failed the college entrance examination, he came to FAW Jiefang Dalian Diesel Engine Co., Ltd. Technical School to study fitters, and after graduating in 1987, due to his excellent results, Lu Xindi directly stayed in Dalian Diesel Engine Factory, the predecessor of FAW Jiefang Dalian Diesel Engine Co., Ltd., and entered the development laboratory.

"I graduated as a fitter and know very little about engines. When I entered the new profession and had to learn everything again, I was very depressed. Like many young people, when Lu Xindi, a fitter," was assigned to a new engine-related position that was unfamiliar to him by the company, he felt overwhelmed and had no way forward.

He was in his early twenties, and after a brief thought, he was ready to play against the tough times of his life. In order to be able to "get started" as soon as possible, Lu Xindi decided to learn diesel engine debugging technology under Song Chengjin, who was the maintenance authority of the whole plant and known for his hot temper and "difficult to serve".

Strict teachers out of high disciples. Under the high standard requirements of the master, Lu Xindi gradually mastered the maintenance skills of the diesel engine, and slowly he created a set of five-step maintenance method of "seeing, listening, touching, smelling and asking" to quickly and accurately eliminate the fault of the diesel engine. In order to continuously improve his theoretical and technical level, Lu Xindi also continued to study and study advanced technologies at home and abroad in addition to down-to-earth work, which provided strong support for him to overcome the worldwide technical problems of diesel engines. In 2005, FAW Jiefang Dalian Diesel Engine Co., Ltd. introduced the German Deutz diesel engine, advanced products must have advanced debugging technology "assist", with excellent technology, Lu Xindi became the preferred talent for debugging Deutz diesel engine, was transferred to the newly established production workshop.

Faced with new and complex equipment and technology, he plunged into the pile of materials, recording hundreds of thousands of words in notes alone. He studied hard and found that the original diesel engine test method has seriously hindered production, and the quality cannot be guaranteed.

"At that time, the demand for diesel engine markets increased significantly, and although the company had 20 commissioning benches and two shifts of workers, it could not meet the demand. There is no complete set of standardized debugging operating specifications for diesel engines, and workers can only rely on experience to debug, how can everyone make the same parameters? Is it possible to develop a standard for everyone to work according to one standard? As long as it can be done, the beat and quality can be guaranteed. Lu Xindi asked such a question.

"With this question in mind, I consulted with many experts and presented my own ideas, but none of them supported me. Some experts say: 'The internal combustion engine industry does not have this standard, you can't do it.' There are also many people who question: "Engine assembly because of the technical level of workers, different techniques, each engine will have subtle differences, so it needs to be debugged." How to set standards for such work? But I thought to myself, if there is no standard, I will do it myself. Lu Xindi decided to break this obstacle.

With no experience to learn from, he figured it out for himself. In the following four years, Lu Xindi recorded various data for more than 10,000 diesel engines. The engine rumbles during commissioning, up to 100 decibels. In order to find out the regularity, Lu Xindi worked in the debugging room for a long time, and over time, his hearing was greatly affected. But he still endured the rumbling noise of the diesel engine, completed thousands of tests, and finally took the lead in establishing the Deutz Diesel Engine Test Method in the internal combustion engine industry.

This method successfully achieves the goal of "zero defect" in the quality of diesel engine testing, and at the same time shortens the commissioning time of diesel engine from 52 minutes / single to 25 minutes / single unit, and also enables the mainland to have independent intellectual property rights in diesel engine debugging technology. This achievement is not only fully applicable to the internal combustion engine industry, but also widely used in the military and shipbuilding industries, which has played a positive role in energy conservation and emission reduction in China and even the world.

"Persistence" and "not accepting defeat" are the words that Lu Xindi repeatedly mentioned in the interview, and it is precisely with this "drilling" energy that Lu Xindi has become a person who can really understand the temper of the diesel engine and become a "technical master" of diesel engine debugging.

Over the years, Lu Xindi has solved the industry problems including: finding out the design defects of dimethyl ether diesel engines, successfully solving the problem of insufficient power of China's first dimethyl ether car by increasing the diameter of the plunger, increasing the amount of fuel injection, canceling the check valve of the injection pump, etc., and making outstanding contributions to China's catching up with the world's advanced level in this field; independently transforming imported equipment, changing the inlet and return oil circuit system of the fuel tank of the imported test bench from a closed structure to an open structure, and forming an autonomous cycle of oil pumping and returning oil. In order to make the diesel engine fault detection more accurate, Lu Xindi also created a six-step maintenance method of "seeing, listening, touching, smelling, asking and measuring", with an accuracy rate of up to 99%.

In more than 30 years of work, Lu Xindi has experienced many tests, but in each test, he has handed over a good answer sheet. Lu Xindi once said: "I regard innovation as a part of my life. And he did prove his original intention with practical actions: over the past 30 years, he has completed 535 technological innovation achievements, creating economic benefits of 122.46 million yuan, of which 100 projects have won the national, provincial and municipal technological innovation outstanding achievement awards, with 26 national patents. In 2012, he also led the establishment of the "Whampoa Military Academy", which is known as a high-skilled talent, the "Lu Xindi Skill Master Studio". In the 10 years since its establishment, the studio has completed a total of 1250 innovative projects, won 6 gold medals of international invention exhibitions, and 46 national authorized patents.

"Maybe in the eyes of others, machines are dead, always making harsh noises. But I think it's alive, it's spiritual, and those so-called 'noises' are the most beautiful music. In the interview, Lu Xindi said to reporters with emotion.

"Drum and shout" for industrial development

35 years ago, Lu Xindi entered the automobile factory after graduating from the technical school, and with hard work and bold innovation, he grew into a "big country craftsman", and formed an indissoluble relationship with the rapidly developing Chinese automobile industry.

At present, a common view of the whole society is that carrying forward the spirit of craftsmanship is an important foundation for realizing the transformation and upgrading of the manufacturing industry. In more than 30 years of experience, Lu Xindi, a "big country craftsman", has not only realized the value of his life, but also used his weak personal strength to promote the development and transformation of the automobile industry.

In addition to the identity of engine assembly and adjustment engineer and senior technician in the assembly workshop of FAW Jiefang Dalian Diesel Engine Co., Ltd., Lu Xindi is also a deputy to the National People's Congress, and this year is the fifth year that Lu Xindi has been elected as a deputy to the National People's Congress.

As an "old man" who has been immersed in the automotive industry for more than 30 years, Lu Xindi has profound insights and thinking about the industry. At this year's national two sessions, Lu Xindi submitted the "Proposal on the National Overall Planning of New Energy Vehicle Battery Recycling", proposing that the construction of the power battery recycling system should be standardized.

"The traceability management of new energy vehicle batteries should be effectively verifiable, the direction can be traced, and the nodes can be controlled." Improve and improve the recycling standard system and industry supervision mechanism of power batteries. Subsidies reward regular enterprises involved in battery recycling and severely crack down on non-compliant recycling. The development of new energy vehicles is in full swing, exceeding market expectations, and the problem of replenishment is the sword of Damocles hanging over the head of the automobile industry. In Lu Xindi's view, a key to solving the current problem of new energy vehicles is that the automatic power exchange mode should be vigorously promoted. "The automatic power exchange mode is generally provided by automobile manufacturers, product technology, quality assurance, from the sale of products to the product elimination of the whole life cycle can be controlled, so as to avoid the current power battery recycling a series of problems."

During the two sessions of the National People's Congress this year, words such as double carbon strategy, industrial innovation, new energy, intelligent network connection, and automobile chips have become key words, which is where the current automotive industry urgently needs to solve the problem and opportunity. Lu Xindi expressed optimistic predictions about the development prospects of Chinese automobiles. At this year's two sessions of the National People's Congress, Lu Xindi also suggested breaking down the barriers to the advancement of the occupation of skilled workers, setting up a new "eight-level worker" system at the national level, cultivating industrial workers with the spirit of craftsmen, and accelerating the speed of "Made in China" becoming a "world famous brand".

Lu Xindi has been in the front line for a long time and can feel the profound changes in the automotive talent structure. "At present, the total number of skilled workers in the mainland is still insufficient, especially the proportion of high-level skilled workers is still far from that of developed countries." Lu Xindi told reporters that at present, the psychology of young people who do not want to be workers and do not want to be workers is widespread, and it is necessary to guide them in an orderly manner from all levels.
