Fu Bingfeng, executive vice president and secretary general of the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, said that the problems encountered by the automotive industry are expected to be answered at the 2022 China Automotive Forum held in July.
Fu Bingfeng told Auto-First at the first quarter information conference of the China Automobile Association held yesterday that the task of stabilizing the growth of the automotive industry this year is arduous, and the 2022 China Automotive Forum is of great significance.
At present, the difficulty and complexity of breakthroughs in the automobile industry are increasing. It can be seen from the automobile industry operation data of the China Automobile Association in March and the first quarter that automobile production and sales have not developed according to the expected sustained growth trend.
In March 2022, production and sales totaled 2.241 million units, down 9.1% y/y, and sales totaled 2.234 million units, down 11.7% y/y. From January to March, production and sales totaled 6.484 million units, up 2.0% y/y, and sales totaled 6.509 million units, up 2.0% y/y.
As an important pillar industry of the national economy, the automobile industry is in a critical stage of transformation and upgrading and high-quality development. In 2021, automobile production and sales have just ended the decline for three consecutive years, achieved positive growth, achieved new results in the opening year of the "14th Five-Year Plan", seen a new atmosphere, and contributed to the sustained development of the mainland's industrial economy and stable macroeconomic growth.
At the beginning of 2022, automobile production and sales ushered in a good start, the development momentum is good, but with a series of negative factors, including the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, power battery raw material prices rose, fuel prices increased, chip supply shortages, domestic epidemic outbreaks at multiple points, etc., to the industry's stable, orderly and healthy development to bring new problems, new challenges, will also have an impact on the annual sales trend and even the process of subsequent industrial upgrading and transformation.
Fu Bingfeng pointed out that in the face of so many influencing factors in the past two years, especially in the first half of the year, the China Automobile Association held the China Automotive Forum at an important node where the industry ran more than half of the year, building a communication platform for the whole industry, communicating solutions, and discussing a stable growth plan, which is of great significance and value.
The 2022 China Automotive Forum will be held on July 14-16 in Jiading, Shanghai.
