Electric vehicles are not suddenly emerging in recent years, in the past time, there have been countless electric vehicles, but by the electricity environment, cost, infrastructure, technology and other constraints, so that electric vehicles have not been able to be on the road in large quantities.
In the early days, BYD did not start with fuel vehicles, but relied on new energy models to make a fortune, but at that time it could not be done, the heat of the entire industry was not there, and consumers did not receive a certain amount of education.
Now, with the rise of more and more new energy vehicle companies at home and abroad, the survival and development environment of the entire industry has been greatly improved. The world is now improving carbon neutrality, China is also striving to achieve carbon standards, fully implement environmental protection policies, and the automotive industry will continue to evolve based on the concept of environmental protection and low-carbon travel, BYD sees this opportunity.
In terms of consumer education, it has also begun to change from the original unsafe about new energy vehicles and dare not buy them. There is a watershed in this, and the original fuel vehicles also occupy a higher share in the market. According to BYD's sales data in previous years, bydir's cumulative sales of passenger cars in 2020 were 426,000 units, of which fuel vehicle sales were 237,000 units, accounting for 55%, accounting for more than half, and BYD's fuel vehicles contributed the majority of sales.
Nowadays, the entire external environment has a favorable impetus to the development of new energy vehicles. As Wang Chuanfu, chairman and president of BYD Co., Ltd., said, "New energy vehicles have been raised to unprecedented heights. New energy vehicles have exploded with tremendous energy, becoming the 'top pillar' for the transformation of new and old kinetic energy in the industry and the promotion of consumption. BYD's track conversion is in response to the country's commitment to promote green energy consumption by 2030 to significantly reduce carbon emissions.
Internal factors: continuously increase technology research and development and invest in product polishing
With external factors, then it must also have enough strength to support this transformation, and internal factors are also critical. Its own layout must fit the transformation of this track. We can still see a hint of this in terms of sales. From 2020, BYD's fuel vehicle sales have fallen sharply, and in 2021, BYD's total passenger car sales will increase by 75.4% compared with 2020 to 730,000, of which nearly 600,000 new energy vehicles will be sold, accounting for 82% of total sales; while the sales of pure fuel vehicles will only be 130,000, and the proportion will fall to 17.8%.
Accelerating directly from the traditional track drift into the plug-in and hybrid track, it can not be completed at once, there must be technical investment and product polishing. BYD sold more than 100,000 passenger cars in March, with 104338 units sold. It is worth mentioning that BYD's sales in March were all new energy vehicles, and it did not produce and sell fuel vehicles. It shows that it has made technical layout and product precipitation in advance.
Technically, in 2020, BYD launched a blade battery, aiming at the safety pain points that the market is most concerned about; in 2021, BYD released DM-i super hybrid to accelerate the replacement of traditional fuel vehicles, and also released the much-watched pure electric exclusive platform e platform 3.0, realizing the platformization of the vehicle architecture. In addition, BYD also has its own flat motor, and semiconductor chips also have a complete industrial chain.
BYD will not stop producing gasoline engines altogether, as small, efficient engines will continue to be used in plug-in hybrids. At the same time, BYD will continue to produce and supply auto parts for internal combustion engines, and continue to provide comprehensive service and after-sales support for existing customers.
China is a huge automotive market, and there must be enough product matrix to meet demand. In the January global new energy model sales TOP10 list released by EV SALES / EV VOLUMES, BYD firmly occupied four seats and became famous overseas, of which BYD Qin PLUS DM-i and Song PLUS DM-i rose two places from the previous month, ranking third and fourth in the list. The market tells us that BYD has enough breadth and depth in the layout of its products in terms of actual sales.

According to the data of the Federation of Passenger Vehicles, in February this year, the retail penetration rate of domestic new energy vehicles reached 21.8%, an increase of 13 percentage points over February last year. In the next few years, new energy vehicles will continue to maintain rapid growth.
For BYD, the track has completely switched, and all that remains is the continuous polishing of its own technology and product upgrades. That is to say, the road to the future can be continuously walked by internal forces, which is a road that does not allow oneself to have the slightest hesitation.
